Have you done TMDR's Greenpeace 'Non toxic' video [Dissidents] yet? What was the story behind that? (he is listed as 'Popular Rock Star'). Anyone got any more details on this - was it a one off version? RE: Toxic Video.....dissidents...... Surely 'Mulu' would have been a better choice for Greenpeace? But perhaps no Mulu video exists? This has just started a whole chain of thoughts off...... When 'Vegas Video software' is being given away for free with Magazines - - people will be posting their own Thomas Dolby video interpretations on the web. Lawyers sought that one out! You could have a video of a resampled re-assembled tune being mimed to by a complete somebody else who is claiming that it is all their own work. Oh hang on ..........havent we been their already (alegedly) with Millie Vanillie and Ice T. he says not being serious cough cough....... have a good weekend. - -- Tim Hudson tim_hudson@zdnetonebox.com - email ___________________________________________________________________ To get your own FREE ZDNet Onebox - FREE voicemail, email, and fax, all in one place - sign up today at http://www.zdnetonebox.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Feb 2001 11:56:04 -0500 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Re: Alloy: Nortel webcast Russell Milliner wrote: > Note: In the Discovery awards show, he did ALOT of > shameless plugging for Beatnik, which I was surprised not to see in > the NHL show. I think Nortel is taking care of all the shameless plugging this time :) Thomas just needs to 'get on up' (aaaaowwwww!) which is probably at least as much fun... I'm sure shameless self-promotion definitely has its charms. Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Feb 2001 19:35:31 -0500 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Alloy: The 2001 TOMMY Awards! The Tommy Awards are back!! Those who have been with Alloy since its beginnings will remember the original Tommy Awards circa 1997 and this year the contest will once again coincide with the Grammys, which are coming up on February 21st. Organization of the event is already beginning and for the first stage, Thomas has asked the help of everyone at Alloy. We need to develop a list of nomination categories for the Awards... as many will recall, the first Tommys featured obvious ones such as Best Lyric, Best Single, Best Arrangement, Most Atmospheric Track, and so on. There were also categories for the more hard-core fan, such as best use of the word "Vaseline" in a song, etc! We need LOTS of suggestions for categories over the next few days (the Tommys are fast upon us!) so please go to your CD collection, make mental notes, and rush back to contribute your thoughts to us here. An official Categories List will then be created based on our suggestions, and the contest officially posted both here and at the FES, along with rules and deadlines. Of course, there will be a prize for the lucky winner who nails every category correctly, along with having his/her name and picture featured on the FES! Further details pending once the contest is underway. But for now, please submit your ideas for categories & we'll get the contest rolling.... xxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Feb 2001 19:51:15 -0500 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Alloy: 2001 TOMMY Awards (suggestion) A couple of category ideas have come to mind as I sit here (still at work...) which I thought I'd post: Most Dance-able (sp??) Great category suggestions by the way! Thanks for sending out that email to the alloy list asking for category suggestions. I think the Tommy Awards is a great idea and will be fun. Your emails always inspire me. You have such a positive, motivated energy. Robin, Forgive me for not knowing this but I was wondering are you still receiving the new member submittal emails from the FES site? If so, would it be possible for you to send me a file with all those email addresses? pst file format would be the best if you use Outlook, if not then whatever file format that's easiest for you would be great. I need to compile a list of all the email addresses of those members. Thomas and I talked today about sending out an email/newsletter to that fan base. I'm trying to get an idea how many emails addresses have been collected, and to have them at hand when necessary. Nothing very technical of course! Still pondering more categories... Dave thought of a few good ones at dinner tonight but I don't know whether they're useable (ie, "Song Most Likely to have a Religion Founded Around It"... "Song Most Likely to Cause a Nosebleed"... ) I actually like the nosebleed one a lot. I can think of a few TMDR offerings that would fit into that category, all right... xxxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 22:50:09 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: 2001 TOMMY Awards (suggestion) Lets see, here goes: List all proper name places - street, city, state, country or continent in the TMDR catalog.
