I checked for you and was told there was a problem, as the Firewall on our Network did not give access to external customers. But I was told that has been fixed and now you should be able to view the webcast at anytime. I was given this website to give you to logon on to. http://www.nortelnetworks.com/corporate/news/topnews/2001a/nhl_top.html If you run into problems let me know so I can make our web folks aware of it. If you require further assistance, please contact us. :: I haven't tried it yet, since I'm at work... but please try it again & hopefully it'll work this time. I'm going to give it a shot when i get home tonight! xxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Feb 2001 14:22:05 -0800 (PST) From: Brian Clayton Subject: Re: Alloy: Nortel webcast Here's a more direct URL for the webcast: http://www.nortelnetworks.com/multimedia/webcast/dolby.ram Comments: It wasn't clear to me if the Beatnik mix of "Science" was being manipulated offstage in real time, or if it was on autopilot; but other than Thomas' vocals and a brief riff on his keyboard, all sounds were apparently courtesy of the Beatnik Player! Maybe next time he'll sing along to one of OUR remixes! I wish the audience was mic'ed a little better to hear their participation ("Science!") The camera work left something to be desired, I'm afraid, as I'm not sure how much of the fuzziness I could blame on Real Player. Nonetheless, Thomas looked like he was having fun. Still, instead of playing at hockey games, I'd rather see him behind the piano at some SF bistro, playing anything BUT "Science." :) BC ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Feb 2001 12:29:12 -0800 From: "Kathleen T. I've been way too busy at work and with being pregnant. Can't believe I have less then 7 weeks to go before the big due date. The mix he was working with came off sounding very interesting and I *loved* the National Anthem thrown in as a bridge - beautiful & very well timed (in terms of the timing within SBMWS) Thomas did look as if he were having a great time, and also he looked fantastic I must say :) , I loved the hat (the hattish thing he wore on his head...) & the shades, which remind me of a pair David Bowie owns.... (sorry but yes, ~geek girl~ notices these things, and has a particular thing for sunglasses to boot!) I loved Thomas' statement that a live webcast performance has never been attempted before on ice! :) This internet thing is marvellous, I feel very lucky to be able to see his show this way. It sounded as if the audience @ the NHL were completely into his performance! Brian I know what you mean about the bistro, except I'd always pictured it in NYC... ~sigh~ Hope everyone gets a chance to check out the webcast, xxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Feb 2001 20:13:48 -0500 From: Russell Milliner Subject: Re: Alloy: Nortel webcast Just a note for those at slower speeds...there is a progam out there called StreamBox VCR 1.0 beta 2 that can download the RealMedia streams which you could then view on your local machine after downloading. Note: The program is no longer available from StreamBox due to a law suit from the moguls at Real. - -Russ Brian Clayton wrote: > > Here's a more direct URL for the webcast: > > http://www.nortelnetworks.com/multimedia/webcast/dolby.ram > > Comments: > > It wasn't clear to me if the Beatnik mix of "Science" was being > manipulated offstage in real time, or if it was on autopilot; but other > than Thomas' vocals and a brief riff on his keyboard, all sounds were > apparently courtesy of the Beatnik Player! I can't believe that even after I've just posted the new Alloy calendar, and made a mental note of the upcoming birthday, I still slipped up! Please forgive what must have been a temporary out-of-body experience on my part (or at least "out-of-mind" experience!!) and join me in wishing a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our very talented and dear friend electrix! They definitely do not want to make this an easy thing to do! But for all the work I now have a copy of TMDR's performance on Video CD. Which reminds me that I still have a video tape of TMDR performing SBMWS at the Discovery Awards at Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center. I need to capture it and maybe I could post it up for just Alloy members to enjoy. Note: In the Discovery awards show, he did ALOT of shameless plugging for Beatnik, which I was surprised not to see in the NHL show. - -Russ ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V6 #33 **************************
