These dates will also be announced shortly. Underwater Moonlight will be reissued worldwide by Matador Records on March 13. This will be a 2-disc set, with the first disc being the original album. The second will feature previously unreleased rehearsal recordings of the Soft Boys from 1979 and 1980. Thomas Dolby used to play with Mathew Selligman in "Bruce Wolley and the Camera Club" Kimberly Rue also had fame as the guitarist with Katrina and the Waves. Later of 'Walking on sunshine' fame etc. I also saw him in Cambridge at the Folk festival with aband called 'La Rue'. Robin Hitchcock makes an appearance as 'Keith' in Thomas Dolbys track 'White City'. Robyn, Morris and Mathew formed the major part of The Egyptians who recorded lots of stuff with Robyn including the must get album 'Element of Light' which I highly recommend. I know this is a Dolby site but someone requested more about the soft boys and there are at least two connections to Thomas from Robyn - maybe Thomas himself might be interested ? 'Give it to the soft boys' Tim in Lux. Its really snowing hard here now - as the light fades fast in Luxembourg city and outside I can hear and see about 30 5 year old children walking through the snow singing songs in Luxembourgish carrying yellow lanterns with real candles inside - all lit up and glowing orangy yellow in the evening gloom. There are a couple of 'grown ups' with them helping them to cross the road here in this residential side street and I think they must have just come out of 'playschool' or some childrens 'creche'. Just thought I'd tell you whats happening over here right now. Give you a bit of Atmosphere. Have a good weekend everyone. Bye from Tim and the Lantern Children in Luxembourg city. - -- Tim Hudson tim_hudson@zdnetonebox.com - email ___________________________________________________________________ To get your own FREE ZDNet Onebox - FREE voicemail, email, and fax, all in one place - sign up today at http://www.zdnetonebox.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Feb 2001 10:00:58 -0500 From: Beth Meyer Subject: Re: Alloy: new February Calendar Hi, folks; Well, glad I finally checked my personal e-mail (after leaving it alone for a few days). This sounds intriguing. Apparently, while the actual NHL Allstar Game is indeed on Sunday the 4th -- and there are no tickets to be had -- there are a couple of preview events going on on Saturday the 3rd. I'm trying to find more details, but here is what denver.citysearch.com had to say: > On Feb 3, The NHL has opened the All Star Practice to > the fan. Hey Tim, If you go to the Music Room at the FES, you'll see that Thomas already has been directing people to Amazon.com for purchase of records & also to CD Now. I see your point if you look at it in a certain way, Tim, but when you see what's really going on, the whole thing is very much to the benefit of the artist and also to the retailer... as for myself, I'm definitely in favor of anything that encourages people to stand in support of their favorite artists by actually *purchasing* their work! (just a little napster jab to kick off the weekend, don't mind me :) To one and all - HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY TO ALLOY!! Every one of Alloy's members over the years has made this list a successful community of fans and friends. My warmest thanks to ALL OF YOU for your continued support and participation! As always, our special debts of gratitude go out to the irreplaceable Mr Paul Baily, for founding Alloy those five years ago and nurturing it into being. And of course, to Mr Thomas Dolby Robertson himself, who has generously participated in and supported Alloy through the entirety of its existence. It's an incredible honor to have you joining us Thomas. I hope Alloy continues to be a place where you feel as welcomed and deeply appreciated as you truly are with us. Let's all raise a glass to many more years together at Alloy! :) And thanks everyone, again, for making Alloy feel like home. xxxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Feb 2001 11:16:03 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: new February Calendar Yeah, I'm going to tape it also just in case. I still wish we could all get together for dinner or lunch or something with TMDR while he is here in Denver. I think that would be cool, but I'm sure he will be busy schmoosing with the Nortel people. Has anyone gotten a USA Today yet? I'm curious about this full page Nortel ad mentioned. I'll pick one up after lunch. - -Keith Stansell Denver - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beth Meyer" To: Sent: Friday, February 02, 2001 9:07 AM Subject: Re: Alloy: new February Calendar > > Whoops. Just checked out the USA Today and the full page ad featuring Thomas Dolby Robertson. The ad features a cool picture of Thomas wearing his beret and glasses - sort of a merger of current and past looks. The tag line is "What do you want the internet to be?" Answer: "The democratization of Music. Making it as intuitive and interactive as a video game" - Thomas Dolby Robertson Chief Beatnik Beatnik, Inc. Cool.
