Welcome back from holiday vacations everyone :) I hope the beginning of 2001 finds everyone in good health and well rested after a much-earned break! Dave and I had a fantastic holiday, including visits with friends & family, and even a new addition to our household - a fish!! This was a gift from my lovely friend Shannon (whose cat I once horrified in the infamous "MTV incident") And I'm very excited about the dress form I received from Dave, because I can now progress in my clothing design. I have about ten things in progress but have been needing the form for detail work, and a lot of them are really fitted designs, which I couldn't use Dave for as my stand-in :) I've also gotten something very cool from my friend Chris at Cornell, who is a huge fan of film scores like I am. This pertains to our recent discussions on film scoring, as well as the New Year - he's made me a tape of the *original* intended score of Stanley Kubrick's '2001 - A Space Odyssey' composed by Alex North. There's only 35 minutes of it, because North was so involved and preoccupied with the project that he ended up in the hospital from stress, yet still wanted to complete the score in time. But the rest was never officially recorded, because Kubrick had meanwhile changed his mind & decided to use classical pieces instead... but he never told Alex North, who didn't find out his work was not in the film at all until he actually went to the premiere of it with his family in tow! There's been some pretty dramatic weather these last few weeks, and I hope everyone has gotten through it okay, especially those in the midwestern US who've been hit by ice storms, and those in the UK who've had so many catastrophic storms. I'm off to get the January portion of the Alloy calendar together, featuring Crackers' vivid artwork. I have to reconnect to my FTP site and it's been so long since I've done any updates that I've forgotten my passwords! It'll be up by tomorrow night though if all goes well. Happy 2001 everyone & welcome to the official New Millennium! xxxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jan 2001 21:01:20 EST From: CJMark@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: happy 2001!
