Sorry, my reply must have sounded a bit confusing. When I saw the Lathe of Heaven topic, I didn't even look at the name, and assumed it was ....actually who was it, Melissa? Robin? who originally posted a message about the film, last year. >>Jon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2000 09:59:55 -0500 From: "Melissa R. Boy, do I ever remember it, though - two friends and I watched it together with their dad and my mom (everyone was a big Ursula K. Le Guin fan.) I still haven't left for my trip - had to make some changes. I lost my 12-hour layover in London on the way out (still have my three days at the end, though!) but it's just as well - my friend who was going to meet me said he couldn't have driven down from Manchester yesterday because of the rain. Yikes! Wishing for better weather for all of Britain, Melissa Jon wrote: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Dennis S. I think Dennis was the one who originally brought it up (??) Now I can't remember! I was asking about it in earlier posts ~ as Melissa is probably remembering ~ because it must be a really interesting film. I still haven't had the pleasure of seeing it. I did just see Suspiria, though, for the first time, after being hounded by friends for years to see it. I finally tracked down a rental copy and was *not* disappointed!! Did Dario Argento really hand-color the film, or did he use gels over the lights in the shooting of it to achieve those surreal effects? I think something was lost in the translation of the piece I read on it. Completely off-topic I know (but I did catch myself wondering what Thomas as a composer might have thought of the score - which I thought was extremely unusual. It was as much an overpoweringly strong 'character' in the film as was the equally strange, Art Nouveau-style 'dance school' building, and the combination made them both seem very alien) And since we're on the subject of film, I wanted to let everyone know my friend John Crye is in a short film that's being aired on Cinemax this month! It's called "HATE - - A Comedy" and will air at the following times: 11/19 at 7:30pm 11/26 at 7:00am He says he only has a supporting role, but it's the first thing he's done that got to cable so he's psyched. If you have the chance, please watch! :) xxxxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Nov 2000 14:13:12 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: The Lathe Of Heaven! I've never seen it, but you all have my curiosity up. I added it to my rental queue at Netflix.com so I'll let you know what I think. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robin Thurlow" To: Sent: Saturday, November 11, 2000 11:13 AM Subject: Re: Alloy: OT: The Lathe Of Heaven! > > I think Dennis was the one who originally brought it up (??)
