I've been extremely busy the last couple of months so I havn't followed Alloy at all but I stumbled across the coolest thing in a long time! I've placed an order for a VHS (yes, that's all I can afford these days) copy of The Lathe Of Heaven! It's been released on media just recently for purchase but I guess it's been airing on PBS stations for awhile now.

I'm so excited about this! I can barely remember scenes from the movie that I saw when I was 13 (I'm 33 now)!

Actually, thanks to your posts on this subject last year, I have had my
eye out for this one.
I don't know how PBS stations work. Here in New York City, PBS is
Channel 13. Sometime around last spring, Channel 13 made a big deal about
The Lathe of Heaven. Apparently, it was the most requested PBS broadcast
of all time. And, it had not been aired in 20 years! (because of some
legal trouble I think you know more about than I).
So, along with some original cast on the set for some Q&A, they
presented the the film in its' entirety, twice. It was great....I didn't
realize how much of it I had forgotten.
I am writing this because, to my knowledge, it hasn't been airing on PBS for
a while now. I think it was a one-shot-only deal.
I had no idea the film had such a huge cult following. I am happy you
bought it on video, BUT, I strongly urge you to pick up a DVD copy at
Amazon.com for $19.95. You never know if this film will disappear for
another 20 years, and video just doesn't hold up as well (not to mention all
the extra DVD goodies like the Bill Moyers interview with ursula K. Le
Guin).
Either way, let me know your thoughts after "the viewing". Have fun.
