The live feed at the PopTech site was up & running throughout Thomas' presentation, which went beautifully & really seemed to get across to everyone. I *loved* his idea of developing an internet-based music classroom for kids, with virtual instruments, which would put many school districts' computer funding to excellent use and make up for the increasing lack of music programs. And, bringing kids together from all over the world to play music through the virtual classroom would bring the traditional music lesson to an entirely different level. Thomas invited everyone @ the conference with ideas on this to speak with him about it after his presentation, & I'm sure the brilliant minds there could really cook up some fantastic programs for music education - always a topic very dear to me, having worked in the music programs in Boston for so long & seeing the way things work. There's much more from the conference I'd love to talk about... was anyone else 'there'? :) I've been told there will be either transcripts or streaming video available of the lectures, so if you missed it you can still catch it later (keep an eye on http://www.camcon.org) There are brief summaries of each speaker's lecture being compiled as the conference goes on, but Thomas' hasn't been done as of this morning. xxxx Robin T ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #262 ***************************
