I got those Atari-specific magazines with programs written in BASIC you had to spend 40 minutes typing in by hand. One was a mono-synth program, I recall clearly. You used the QWERTY keyboard to play the notes. I spent, much to my mom's discomfort, at least three hours playing the bassline right along on the Atari, to "Windpower". I must say, it was a very remarkable facsimile of that bass patch (the Atari had a three-voice synthesis engine; Dolby's Moog had two). Or did he use the PPG for that part? #1) The song I was referring to was actually "One of Our Submarines." Easy bassline for a beginning synth player/computer tinkerer. #2) The bassline is credited to (damn, forgot the cd sleeve at work again, insert name here), as "Moog Bass." Well, at least that is settled. Thanks to everyone for the replies on this, and for the forthcoming responses in advance. Not playing favorites, but I really dug the one about being in Budapest at the time, from Tim H. Very descriptive language to go with a picturesque composition. Unfortunately, I've never personally been to the swamps of Louisiana to offer a counter-story. But I have been through Hollywood at nite; going to see Andy Summers (formerly of the Police) do a jazz trio thing. I must say, there are indeed an awful lot of cars there. To future meetings, ~robb ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #248 ***************************
