(plus, a completely OT link) First of all, a very warm welcome!! to our newest members (and I'll be back to you with a personal reply to your letter soon... :) Please feel free to introduce yourselves here on the list, or to simply lurk & get a feel for the place. A little recent news on our activities here @ Alloy... one of our ongoing projects has been collecting song interpretations, our personal takes on the music of TMDR. Lyrics will be posted for each song and then whoever has any impressions on it can post their thoughts. These are being gathered for a permanent section at Thomas' own Flat Earth Society webpage, which is in development. Everyone is encouraged to post their ideas for favorite songs you'd like to have featured, and any songs we've previously talked about can always be brought up again. One of my favorite things is to discover how each of us first came across Thomas Dolby's music, what our first impressions were, etc! If you care to reminisce, please do, we'd love to hear from you. I have been posting TMDR related news items as I find them (and if you've got any yourselves please do send them in) Meanwhile, here's an OT thing I wanted to show everyone. Tim Burton has been working on an animation project with Shockwave which I think many of us here will find very creatively inspiring (though of course be prepared and don't watch with your mouth full - this is Tim Burton we're talking about). Dave has been wanting to work on some animation for the web, and he is really excited about this technology! As for the Tim Burton project, Danny Elfman has once again collaborated. Whenever I hear good, expressive music I always think of Thomas and his film/video scores. I wonder if he might consider teaming up with a well-known animator for a series of little stories like this one for the web? http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/entry.jsp?script=/minisites/stainboy/home.jsp Well, maybe not *just* like this one... (LOL!) Have a great weekend everyone, xxx Robin T ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #244 ***************************
