Please keep us up-to-date on things. I'll keep my fingers crossed :) For a small senseless diversion, please check out http://www.celebmatch.com and find out who your best Celebrity love matches would be! (apparently mine would be Jude Law..?) I have no idea what biorhythms are, but the site is fun and very silly, and so it appeals to me. The list of celebs to choose from is limited however - if you want to check your biorhythmic compatability with anyone not on the list, you'd have to go to http://www.biolovematch.com & type the birthdays in yourself. I've just discovered my compatability with Mr Dolby averages out to be 41%, which if true, makes his putting up with me even more heroic than I'd previously thought! I really liked the Twiglets but UGH who can stomach prawn cocktail crisps! And they are so popular! My s.o. is particularly fond of the roast chicken and stuffing crisps :) Now, I always get this mixed up: the UK Milky Way is the US Three Musketeers (i.e. no caramel) and the UK Mars is the U.S. Milky Way? I was really hoping we'd run across a deep-fried Mars Bar but I guess that's (rightfully) gone out of fashion. Ooooh, I ate my last bit of Cadbury's 2 weeks ago and then we had to go and have this discussion :) :) *B* ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 09:42:21 -0400 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Alloy: TMDR interview Here's an interview I'm not sure I've come across before (there's no date on the article to let us know how recent it is) Thomas says in the interview that Beatnik was a company that consisted of only ten people "a year ago" and now it's grown so much bigger... where would that place this? http://www.newmediamusic.com/interviews/interviews_tdr.html It may have been previously referenced so please forgive any repetition... I thought that everyone knew what biorhythms were, but then everyone's not as old (and sad) as I am. They were very popular about 15 years ago, particularly when home computers were first on the market, as someone wrote a program to calculate your biorhythms when you input your birth date. The following explanation is from one of the many websites on the subject. "Among our bodily rhythms are three clearly defined cycles that affect our behaviour pattern but which have no cause and effect as such; they are simply continuous, physiological changes. Collectively they are known as Biorhythms; individually, as the physical cycle, which has a duration of 23 days; the emotional cycle, with a periodicity of 28 days and the intellectual cycle of 33 days. Simply by charting your personal rhythms and noting their phasing you can, with simple adjustments, achieve better results which must inevitably lead to a better way of life." Basically, you input your birth date and the program tells you the current stage in each of the three biorhythms. Depending on whether they were up, down, converging, etc. you were supposed to be able to decide whether it was a good day to do particular things, e.g. apply for a job, start a new relationship or just stay at home in bed with the curtains drawn. Like astrology, to be taken with a large pinch of salt, but quite fun.. Slarv Robin Thurlow wrote: > Beth, good to hear you're still employed! Please keep us up-to-date on > things. It's another brand of chocolate with a subtly different flavour to Cadbury's choccy. I like them both pretty equally, but it has to be said that Cadbury is the choccy market leader over here. And I agree with you about the Twiglets. In fact they taste best if you don't eat them at all, IMHO. The IDEA of them is better than the reality. Mini Cheddars are a zillion times better as a snack treat. I haven't actually seen the Mr Bean episode in question, but I'd be surprised if they WEREN'T Twiglets. They have to be the ideal visual comedy snack. I think I may have done, maybe three years ago, but for those who may have missed it then, it usually involved a sexy young lady unwrapping one end of the Flake, followed by a close up of it being inserted between her lips and broken off, when she would have to brush any crumbs into her mouth with her finger tips. There were several ads on the same theme; one of an artist painting in a field of poppies and stopping to eat her Flake; another of a young lady in some kind of mansion on a sultry evening, wearing a silk slip and ignoring a ringing phone to indulge in eating the Flake ........ (Quick, nurse, the screens, the screens.....) It's not the same these days. There is a computer animation of the poppy field ad at the beginning of Coronation Street, as Cadbury are sponsors of that soap, but it's really not the same. And after all this, a Flake is a silly thing to eat, as it's messy, plus it's half full of air, whereas a nice big bar of Dairy Milk is solid choccy. Yes, I remember very clearly!! > And after all this, a Flake is a silly thing to eat, as it's messy, plus it's half full of air, whereas a nice big bar of Dairy Milk is solid choccy. But the air is part of what makes the chocolate so good, my dear Slarv. The air bubbles have been held between the fine layers of chocolate & when they snap in your mouth it's like getting to taste the chocolate all the more intensely. This only works with fresh Flakes though. Stale Flakes are no fun at all. So Dennis, eat your Flake while it's fresh! 'course it's always fun to sink your canines into a nice thick block of solid chocolate too... or at least, it ~was~... *sob* Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 21:32:36 -0400 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Re: Alloy: Beth / a wee distraction Thanks Slarv, I'd really never heard of this. Too bizarre. Of course, I was concerned that I was matched up with a guy just coming off a couple of years of serious depression (and whom I'm not sure is straight!) But I think he's adorable. So, thanks - that made my dismal day quite amusing! Cheers, Melissa Robin Thurlow wrote: > Thanks Slarv, I'd really never heard of this. It's interesting..
