The reason for the meeting was due to Brian Clayton being in town from Fresno. The conversation was good, but the service was bad. After waiting about 30 minutes, our waitress came out to apologize because she forgot to enter our order. When we got our order, they made the wrong dish for Beth. Unfortunately, Dennis Alexander and Theresa were unable to make it due to prior commitments. I got a picture of the occasion, and thanks to digital technology, follow the link below to see it: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=881216&a=7242206&p=24631883 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 19:28:26 +1000 From: Paul Baily Subject: Re: Alloy: Brian Clayton visits the Colorado Alloy Contingent And on the day of 19/7/2000 3:39 pm, Keith Stansell thus did spake... > A small meeting of the Colorado Alloy Contingent met tonight at Chili's near > Loveland. Brilliant. Just brilliant to see you guys again (well virtually anyway.) Once again I find myself wishing for the nth time to be near enough to be able to participate in these get-togethers. Hope you had a ball. Paul. I'd love to add the photo to the Alloy 'group photos' gallery, with permission from everyone in the shot. We've just gotten the most recent version of Dreamweaver this past weekend so I can't wait to get everything updated - starting tonight, and for many nights to follow. Plus, this version has that handy 'code cleanup' option so everything should work much more smoothly... (Premieres from 7-7:30p.) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 20:49:12 -0400 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Alloy: misc. stuff, music/movies A little movie and music news, none of it Dolby related unfortunately - though I'm definitely psyched about the upcoming VH1 appearance (and sorry about the weird format of that last forward. Like Melissa said, sometimes they go through a little awkwardly..) First of all, since I know a few people here are fans of the film 'Lathe of Heaven', I wanted to point out that one of its stars portrays Senator Kelly in the X-Men film, which Dave and I saw last night - and which we *loved* (but if you're the sort of person who prefers romantic comedy-type films, this is probably not for you. Remember this is based on a comic book, so scatter your scientific knowledge to the winds before you set foot in the theater all you scientists out there :) Has anyone else seen it? Also excellent were Australian actor Hugh Jackman, and of course my favorite UK martial arts expert Ray Park as quite possibly the grossest movie villain ever, 'Toad'. Michael Kamen's score was beautiful. If you think you would hate this kind of movie, go anyway and just shut your eyes & listen to the score, I assure you this alone is worth the price of admission! My other piece of bizarre news is that I've found out that my former cello teacher is making a record with Billy Joel (I still haven't found out how she got this gig, exactly!) Don't know if there are any fans of Mr. Joel here, but if you've always wanted to hear my cello teacher and her absolutely beautiful musicianship, pick up a copy of his next cd when it's released (and look for Beth Pearson in the credits :) Robin T off to run my nightly mile... ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #177 ***************************
