I Wish, I WISH I'd seen that! Have Thomas and Bowie played together like that since Live Aid? I think they did "Heroes" then too, didn't they? Lissu :-) :: in this photo we're playing "Heroes" and he is in between the lines "...will drive them away" and "oh we can beat them...". Oh God I am ill...I still curse myself for turning down TMDR tickets one lovesick night during the Aliens Ate My Buick tour. But I always had hopes to see him again. Of course, my dreams were crushed one night while browsing the FES site and reading the news that Thomas considered his touring days over. So, you think I would have learned my lesson and never turned down tickets again. But no...I had to turn down a spontaneous invite, from a friend, to see Bowie here in NYC. And Thomas plays!!! I should have known...the signs were all there...Bowie bumped into me and practically knocked me over, on his way into the VIP lounge at a WIRE show a week earlier. It was a sign from God!!! And Thomas plays Deepest sympathy...I'd be sick too! I didn't go to see Thomas in London years ago because it was in the middle of my A-levels. I didn't realise then it was my last chance ever, and I've regretted it ever since. Maybe we should all send Thomas begging letters until he agrees to do one British gig and one US gig for the faithful ;-) BTW, if I post a thing about Urges, does everyone promise not to laugh? Sally ------------------------------ Date: Thu Jun 22 08:51:01 2000 From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: TMDR jams with Bowie! Jon, I know what you mean. Dave and I were going to see this NYC show but our finances are shaky, what with both of us attending college, and we thought it would be too much of an extravagance to go down to NYC again since we'd just been there to see friends. We were trying to be 'good'. Aaaaghhh! Let this be a lesson to me! My hope is that maybe this could be a prelude to other appearances by Thomas (God, I'm such an eternal optimist!!). Doing a tour may not be his thing anymore, like he's said - but the occasional performance date might suit him. I was so thrilled to see how happy and comfortable he looked on stage playing alongside Bowie. What an amazing event! I was so excited even just hearing about it that I literally could hardly sleep last night & I woke up mere hours ago with Bowie's version of 'Wild is the Wind' firmly jammed into my brain. One funny thing about all this is that Thomas was just casually saying in that VH1 - Wire interview how the posters and images of himself during his recording career were part his 'former self'. I sort of sighed a little when I heard that. But only days later he's jamming with Bowie at the Roseland!! ~ Robin laughs and hyperventilates uncontrollably ~ "Let the wind blow through your heart for wild is the wind..." (this song will forever remind me of Thomas from this day forward!! Fitting really :) Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Thu Jun 22 08:52:24 2000 From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: TMDR jams with Bowie!
