Tilson" Subject: Alloy: Song Of The Week changes Dear Alloy; I am pleased with the responses to the Song Of The Week project that I cobbled into being some many weeks ago here. I think it is outstanding that Thomas has acknowledged that this may be of value to The Flat Earth Society in general and has posited including our studies on the official website. Wonderful wonderful wonderful! However, I am currently overwhelmed with projects and issues closer to home and must put my energies there for the foreseeable future. Sadly, I must back out of overseeing this project, and am writing now to ask; Will someone else please step in to keep the ball rolling? There's not much to it. Just post the lyrics to a song and let the group have at it! I feel bad that I've started this, cannot follow through, and am letting the group down. SOTW is such a seemly project for us and it's 100% Dolby-related! What more could we ask for? I have all the Airwaves stuff and will hand it off to whomever is kind and generous enough to take the job. Best wishes and good luck!, Stephen ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jun 2000 21:24:57 EDT From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: Song Of The Week changes Dear Stephen, The development of song interpretations for the Flat Earth Society page is still being discussed; meanwhile I would be very pleased to step in and offer up lyrics for translation by everyone here at Alloy if this is all right. I can begin Monday going by Lazlo's excellent discography, in basic chronological order (though spontaneous discussion of other songs is encouraged of course!). Please don't worry about forwarding the Airwaves posts, they've been gathered for demonstration to the FES folks (who are very impressed by them!! :) Is everyone interested in continuing? Thanks again, Stephen, for proposing the concept & starting the ball rolling, and thank you thank you thank you to everyone who has written in their fantastic interpretations so far. I know I personally love hearing everyone's interpretations of the songs - such a wonderful look at how Thomas' music has touched and affected us all (and the reason we're such devoted admirers!) I hope all of you will continue to share your feelings and insights with us! So if there are no objections, I'll begin a new cycle on Monday, with.... shall we say 'Urges'?
