The album version gets going with a percussive "knock" at 0:46 with "bowling" at 1:07. (version) misses 18 seconds of start, with "knock" at 0:28 and stays the same as the album version ("bowling 18 secs earlier at 0:49) until the no-lyrics part after the second "I love you g.b.": At this point on the album version there is a musical section comprising parts I called in my notes: "Violin 4", (at 3:15) "Violin 4b", (at 3:33) "screech!", (at 3:50) length :11 "piano", (at 4:01) length :19 "accord.", (at 4:20) length :18 Then there are two lines starting with "Typhoon", before the line "Under a Cajun moon" starts an exact minute to the end. All four versions seem indentical all the way from TMDR's first words all the way to the end - EXCEPT the Bayou Mix, New Orleans Mix and (version) are missing "Violin 4b"/"Screech!", "accord." and the two lines before "Under a Cajun moon" (having just "Violin 4" and "piano"). Bayou Mix starts with "knock", "piano" and "screech!") before the lyrics start, then remains the same as (version) - "bowling" is at 0:33 and the 3:17 end is also 16 secs earlier. New Orleans mix starts with the shortest strings, with "knock" at 0:17 - a piano version of "Violin 4" follows, then "screech!", then the lyrics and on to the end as (version) - "bowling" is at the same 0:49 as with (version) and the 3:33 length is the same. There are some more insect noises in the run up to "The County Sheriff had a hair lip". I did a loads of comparisons to work all this out and if I'm wrong anywhere it's because I can't face it anymore!! Overall, the album version remains my favourite. Any comments or corrections?!! At least if you've never heard the other versions you'll now know you're not missing much :o) +AndyJ+ - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Get your free email from AltaVista at http://altavista.iname.com ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #143 ***************************
