Anyway, I'm really stupid technically so I can't make anything work! the_copse - -----Original Message----- From: Chris Cracknell [mailto:crackers@hwcn.org] Sent: 18 May 2000 03:07 To: alloy@smoe.org Subject: Alloy: Beatnik freaknik Well gang, I recently got graphical internet access (still use the Lynx account for E-mail and newsgroups) so I finally got to experience the glory of Beatnik. Well.. sort of. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 May 2000 09:14:28 -0400 From: Robin Thurlow Subject: Re: Alloy: Greetings, and a question Hey Colin, I'd LOVE it if it were true (I love both artists!) Hopefully one of our discography experts will be able to answer this one :) Robin T Colin Viebrock wrote: > This is my first post, so greetings are in order, I suppose. > > Hi. > > Okay, now that that is out of the way ... a question. > > I came across a short snippet of a song that is "supposedly" called "Solo", > by Thomas Dolby and Nina Hagen. > > I say "supposedly" because I've checked every online resource I can think of > and can't find any reference to a collaboration between Mr. Dolby and Ms. > Hagen. It recently made a top-ten list of American cities to live, work, and play in, and I can see why. The only thing missing, for me, is the ocean. (Gotta have the ocean!) But it is a very beautiful and interesting community, and it probably has a history of communes - much like the area that I currently live in, Santa Rosa. Ah, true. That's why some of the most expensive housing in the metro area is up there around Boulder (unless you're an old hippie who bought your house eons ago). The city is a cultural center with people from all over the world there. Its filled with nature as well; strict building codes, bike lanes, health food stores, etc. everywhere. The Pearl Street (named after one of my ancestors) Mall, where the theater was, is a great place to go on a Saturday with street performers everywhere. As far as the reputation of Boulder goes? Tree huggin, granola eatin, music lovin... A joke I enjoy is, "How many Boulderites does it take to change a light bulb? All of them; one to change it, the rest to enjoy the experience, man." The place has been known (especially in the past) for its drug culture. But anymore, the town has really been inundated with Yuppies and such because of its sheer beauty. ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #123 ***************************
