["Kathleen T. Presser" ] Re: Alloy: World Bank... ["Kathleen T. Presser" Subject: Re: Alloy: World Bank... Just to verify what happened in Seattle. A few protesters broke off from the main group and broke the windows of a Starbucks cafe. After this happened other protesters who didn't agree with any kind of vandalism kept anyone from looting the cafe or causing anymore vandalism. I've heard reports from one of the head people organizing the protest in Washington saying that peaceful and non violent protesting is being stressed and will be enforced. In Seattle the police started with the tear gas and arrests way before any vandalism started. Of course the main news media stations didn't portray it that way. Kate;-) Melissa R. I saw a lot more tear gassing after the vandalism (mind you, the cameraman must have somehow faked the raw footage). - --omega ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2000 14:15:15 -0700 From: "Kathleen T. I don't believe in destroying property to protest, so I'm not defending the vandalists, I'm just saying that the coverage by the main media channels may not have been totally accurate. Guess you can say I'm a bit of a heritic and a dissident who would love to drop some bombs on Maggie Thatcher, Ronnie Reagan and a few other politicians with the help of the 'Cube' of course.
