Hi, kids,

I'm darting out from under my rock for a moment. I have to attend COMDEX
in Chicago next week, in order to recruit host companies for my next
delegation (all specialists in IT).  If any of y'all will be there, let
me know. I'll be there all three days of the event.

I'm happy about going because it'll get me out of Washington just as the
World Bank/IMF fiasco goes into overdrive. One of my best friends works
at the Bank, and it's weird to pick him up after work now - the streets
are all blocked off, there are cops and police tape everywhere, with
barricades and razor wire hanging off parts of the main Bank building.
Yeesh.

I'm also happy to go, as it's Easter week, and I'll be able to drive
from Chicago to my home town and see my mother, who is out of ICU, but
still not well at all. I've called her several times, but she has no
idea who I am. She won't eat, and she's lost 30 pounds, which is an
AWFUL lot on the shrinking frame of a 78-year-old. I'd give just about
anything to walk in her room and have her recognize me.
