I just picked the Toys soundtrack to get The Mirror Song by TMDR and Robin Williams. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I have a couple questions about it too. > > First, it's written by Trevor Horn and Bruce Woolley. And it lists the song as performed by Mr Dolby with Robin Williams and Joan Cusack with additional vocals by Bruce Wolley. But the music is interesting. Did Thomas have a part in performing it or is it all Trevor on the keyboards, etc? I remember following a series in (I believe) Recording magazine, back when the musical part of the project was being put together. Trevor Horn wrote it and I don't recall him mentioning Thomas once... or most of the artists for that matter. After getting the CD, I was surprised to see Joan Cusack get a credit on the song. I can hear Thomas and Robin Williams no problem, but not Joan. My guess is they included her name as she was in the 'video' in the movie. I really wish they would have better defined who got what credits on the songs. The whole thing is quite quirky, yet I still enjoy every song somehow... Just like Robin Williams himself. And what a fantastic group! Thomas Dolby, Seal (an all-time fav!), Wendy and Lisa, Tori Amos (another immense fav!), Frankie Goes To Hollywood, etc... ___________ JAMac (Dennis S. I imagine that in the US you have to sign all kinds of disclaimers anyhow so if they do screw it up you've no legal redress. While children, the infirm and the elderly are usually the most at-risk for the flu, they are also the most at-risk to suffer side-effects from the flu shot. Getting a flu shot compromises your immune system. Modern medicine is always doing things backwards, this way. For instance, if you have cancer, they poison your body with chemotherapy which greatly compromises your immune system. The immune system is what keeps cancer at bay in the first place and eventually gets rid of the cancer (if you pursue a course of action condusive with nature.) So they ruin your immune system and watch the race in your body hoping that the cancer dies before you do. Yes, the chemotherapy actually kills your body. That's why they use it; because it also kills the cancer cells. Similar situation with the radiation. That's why I've taken a great interest in Chinese Medicine and such. In western medicine, you study dead people to see how they died. In Chinese medicine, you study healthy people and see what it is they do that keeps them healthy. Understand that I've been in communication with large bodies of doctors and health practicioners who are very much against a lot of this stupid medicine carried out today. And in the end, they always show that the root source for the methods that most doctors use today are not in regards to your health, but to their pocket book. For instance, did you know that a person on dialisys actually has a rate on the New York Stock Exchange? (That's not some individual, but rather the average profit made on a general basis from those on dialisys.) Another example I've seen personally. My sister had a friend who had dead intestinal tissue and was slated for surgery to cut 6 inches of her intestines out. Then she got an intestinal blockage (yes, the two are directly related and were in the exact same spot.)We got her on an intestinal cleanse program and in the first day, the blockage was gone. A week later she had so much energy that she hadn't had for years. Her doctors said that they still wanted to do the surgery and discovered that they only needed to remove 1 inch. Yet, I seriously doubt they even needed to do that. The moral of that story? It's more profitable to take out 6 inches of intestine rather than just telling your patient to consume the fiber they should have been eating on a regular basis in the first place. I find stupid doctor tricks like this all the time! They even pulled the same tricks on me! Lissu wrote... >Admittedly, we'd just had a close family member die, and I'm sure that the emotional impacts of these kind of events have a bad effect on the immune system, I'm nearly 100% positive that's what caused it. Stress is the #1 factor in reducing your body's immunity. >...but I can't help but think that if I'd had the jab, this could have been avoided,... another cautionary tale concerns my father in law, who had a complication of influenza that destroyed his pancreas and left him severely diabetic. I dare say that your father probably already had a compromised pancreas and the flu just triggered its massive failure. I'm also betting that your father probably consumed too much dairy products and simple carbohydrates. > There is always going to be someone who gets badly affected by a vaccine, but I don't believe it would be available if it only had a bad affect. Ok, back to my point on profit. They make money off of the vaccines, that and adds to their image of being the ones who are out there making the effort to protect your health. But, there's another point here I guess I havn't brought out enough; drugs which were properly prescribed and properly taken are the 4th leading cause of death in the United States. Anywhere from 40,000 to 160,000 Americans die each year because of drug reactions. How many people have died from supplements? virtually none. You hear so often that excessive quantities of vitamin A, zinc, niacin, etc. can be toxic and those are true statements. But people are not killed by them! They are not left paralyzed or with diabetes because their pancreas was ruined. It just doesn't happen! >For every person who gets harmed by the vaccine, I'd say there are at least as many who die or are seriously affected by the virus itself, and these people are not always the old, sick or infirm. I'd also say that if someone has a compromised immune system, either the shot or the virus could be problematic. So if you're saying that by, either doing nothing or by taking the vaccine, your risk is still about the same, then why do either? I'm saying do something, but don't take the vaccine! Like I said earlier, I used to get the flu all the time; I don't anymore. The only thing that changed was my eating habbits, exercise, supplementation and avoiding stress. > All I know is that I've been free of the flu for the past three years thanks to the vaccine, and this year I've suffered because I didn't take it. But are you safe?... > One other point is that whilst it might not prevent you from getting the flu, the vaccine does protect against complications such as pneumonia, a particular reason it is offered to high risk groups. I know very many people who have benefited from it. Again, they wouldn't have to worry about pneumonia, etc. if they focused on increasing the strength of their immunity rather than taking the quick and easy shot... which (in rare occasions) could kill or maime them. William K wrote, >I'm about half way through the book now, ( title is something like FLU, story of 1918 yada yada, Gina Kolota is the author) and they point out that in 1918, there were two outbreaks. The first was bad, but not fatal, (sort of like the one we just had) and the second was the deadly one. But, they found out that if you got the first round of it, you would probably survive the second one. So, maybe it's better to get it as much as you can to build up your anti-bodies. I agree with Lissu on this. Every time you get a cold or the flu, you're dealing with a separate strain of a virus. Once you've been infected, the resulting antibodies prevent you (usually) from ever getting that one again. Thats proven in the methodology in creating the vaccine for each year's flu. The virus breeds and mutates in pigs in China. There, the people live in the closest proximity to pigs, get the virus and transmit it to travelers who take it around the world with them. This is what the doctors do... they go to China, take samples of blood from the pigs, inject the blood in chicken eggs to breed the virus. They inject those eggs into other eggs to create a large quantity of the virus. They then mix in some mercury to kill, or half-kill the virus, then they inject it in you. I've seen this documented on news programs and specials on PBS. That's why the flus are given names like the Hong Kong flu, etc. As it almost always seems, we get our diseases from the animals by improper contact (sheep for herpes, hantavirus(?) from monkeys, flu from pigs, etc.) Back to the outbreak in 1918, it was most likely the same bug hitting in two waves with a slight mutation. But you can build up your resistance without getting the flu. The problem with getting the flu (or colds as well) is that, once you've had one, you never get it (usually) again. So if you build up a resistance to every virus that comes along, you're going to be sick a lot! When you're sick, your immunity is compromised as its already fighting a major battle. Which only can set you up for other problems, such as Lissu's father-in-law and his compromised pancreas and resulting diabetes. This happens in the hospitals all the time. You go in for an infected hang-nail, and you come out in a body bag due to pneumonia that you picked up in the hospital. I've had a lot of doctors tell me, avoid hospitals if you can, except in cases of emergency. They're deadly! I mean if I'm in a car accident, I want to be in a hospital. I want what they have for situations of trauma, but not for things that nature can clearly take care of. The problem is that society in general has been brainwashed so much on this that people usually don't consider natural methods over 'modern' methods. That's changing dramatically, though. I think it was last year (or the year before) that for the first time Americans spent more money on 'alternative' therapies than they did on 'conventional' therapies. That's why you're seeing so many ads on television with happy people, sunshine and flowers pushing drugs with all sorts of side-effects. It's starting to hurt their pockets, in particular, the pharmaceutical companies. Now, they're starting to manufacture their own supplements and herbs because they are realizing they're fighting a loosing battle. Insurance companies are starting to switch to alternative therapies as well, because they're cheaper... The people don't come back with complications from the previous treatments. I sum everything up in one sentence. Give the body what nature intended in the first place, not what man thinks he can come up with. (Jer 10:23) Kate wrote, >I never get flu shots. Would rather beef up on zinc, echinacea and chamomile. Plus since I've been practicing yoga, I've been able to stay healthier. My point exactly. (though in far fewer words than I used). ___________ JAMac (Dennis S.
