Let me ask, what is the typical file size, or more importantly, what is the typical MP3 resolution offered by this service? Unless the resolution is at or near 256Kbps and in stereo (to my ear), the music will sound thin and unsatisfying, especially the transient high frequencies such as those that cymbals produce. If I remember correctly, a stereo 256Kbps MP3 file for a song that is 4 minutes in length is about 6Mb. That is a very large file to download - unless you've got a cable modem or better. So far, most people don't. If I am not alone in this observation of poor quality, I would hope that instead of replacing music published through the usual means (CD, LP, etc.), MP3 serves as advertisement and as such encourages the listener to go out and buy the damn CD! /\/\iles - one can only hope ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V5 #34 **************************
