Hello all,

I just subscribed to the digest version of Alloy Friday and got my first 
installment on Saturday.  I was going to hold back from posting so that I get 
a feel for what the conversation is, and who's participating.  But patience 
is perhaps not my strong suit.

I'm Ann in Orlando, Florida.  Seems like a million years ago that I first 
heard Thomas Dolby's music and started buying his albums.  He always spoke to 
my intellect the same way Howard Jones speaks to my spirit.  

If someone wouldn't mind tossing out a few basics, like how many people 
participate here, any terribly stupid comments/questions so I won't make the 
same mistakes, and what you enjoy most about the list, I'd appreciate it.  

I hope to read about all of you soon and look forward to a varied and 
stimulating discussion here.

Welcome Ann!

Alloy's membership usually hovers around 80 people or so from various parts 
of the world. If you think of list etiquette as being the same as that for 
any other public meeting place, like a pub or coffee house, that's all you 
need to know. There are no stupid questions! As Alloy's founder Paul Baily 
always likes to say, the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.

You can also visit the Alloy Names to Faces gallery (which is a link on the 
FAQ page) & see some of Alloy's many members... to which you might consider

I was trying to access the AAMBC webpage today (setting up an internet
account at my parents place) and noticed the webpage is no longer
there. I assume it has been replaced with a
"Bride Of Aliens Ate My Birthday Cake" webpage. (it would be rather
redundant to have the two)

Can someone post the URL for the BOAAMBC webpage?

Now that "Bride Of Aliens Ate My Birthday Cake" (code named
"Project B-Day:Deja Vu") is behind us it's time to start
co-ordinating the work on Project B-Day:III

Could someone post the URL for the Project B-Day III webpage
as well as the subscription information for the Project B-Day
mailing list (so we can discuss details of the Project B-Day
operation without them reaching the ears of a certain
Birthday Boy).

We should really start to pull together on Project B-Day III
now so that everything gets done on time. October comes much
sooner than you might think and the deadline comes even
sooner.

And if anyone wants to organize Project B-Day spin-off projects
for those whose talents lie in areas other than music then
you'll want to subscribe to the Project B-Day mailing list too.

And speaking of Project B-Day III. I had recorded my submission
last year before we decided to do Project B-Day: DejaVu. Well
I certainly felt happy about it too, all warm and secure in the
knowledge that my work was done and that the "Curse Of Hyperactive"
would be broken.

Well guess again.... due to a faulty tape counter on my 4-tracker
I accidently recorded over my Prohect B-Day III submission.
Looks like I'm back to square 1 too. (On top of that the disk with
the midi files for my submission has become corrupted. The "Curse
of Hyperactive" is not to be taken lightly).

No problem. I'm determined to break the foul curse that plagues
this song. 

Anyways. Times wasting, let's all roll up our sleeves and get to
work on Project B-Day III.

And perhaps someone can make it a point to post the Project B-Day III
url on a regular basis so that newcomers to Alloy can get filled in on
what this Project B-Day thing is all about.

Thanks for mentioning this crackers... I had meant to add something in the 
FAQ about this project, and your post reminded me to do it. I'll put in the 
link for the other collection once it's up & running again (I too got a 'page 
not found' page when I went to it!) and the link to the secret Project B-day 
mailing list page when it's established.

Whoops, I guess I forgot about the AAMBC page.  It fell victim to my
dropping of my old internet provider.

I would like to tell you that it was replaced by a BOAAMBC page, but I just
haven't done it yet.  Ok, I know I've had time, just haven't done it.

So, here goes - I promise you I will have it up and running one week from
now!  As well as a reworked Flattery Earth page.
