To which I have to say, No. But I have been playing "Driver" - the Bullit-style driving game set in the 70s with tail-happy muscle cars and Starsky & Hutch music. Highly recommended. Althought I can't seem to get through the last (?) level where you have to drive the President's Cadillac across New York while the FBI and police smash into you with cars 50% faster and more nimble than your own. It's hilarious. My husband lived in Virginia Beach for a few years as a kid, and they would actually cancel school for an inch or two. Living in central Wisconsin, this is all quite amazing... you should see how they treat snow here. Unless it's gonna be really bad, they don't send the plows out until it's done snowing, generally. We had around 8 inches of snow fall a week or so ago, and our street didn't get plowed until the next day. This doesn't keep people in, either. We just go... and are quite thankful for our SUV's, which actually serve a purpose here. It takes a veritable blizzard, or -40 degree wind chills, for school to be cancelled. But you have obviously experienced harsher winters than the ones you get in DC, having lived in Russia. You know, I would LOVE to know what you do, and how it is that you came to live in Russia. Have a better day... My dad thinks I'm a bit of a nerd, but it's a valuable source of information, raising awareness of different cultures etc. I know deep down he really wants one. My favourite though still remains the Indian broadcasts where we try and translate for them into English. You should try it someday, it's great fun!! The Indians love musicals and when we're feeling like a bit of a giggle we often try to enact their scenes; After a few lines of watching them jumping about to what can only be described as restaurant music, I guarantee you won't be able to avoid lowering the tone...... I once saw an Indian Porno...Again to restaurant music...The scene was set they'd had a bit of a dance. She enticed him with a folk song from Delhi before ripping off her veil and leading him into the bathroom. At this point we stopped translating and oggled at the screen in disbelief....... We were actually going to watch the two of them at it!!!!. First she turned on the water, he ripped off his shirt. What happened next you ask? Well, at this point I nearly fell off my chair. The two of the got in to the shower fully dressed (Minus one shirt and a veil) and standing side by side behind the shower curtain proceeded to make noises like two wildebeest losing their virginity. Thanks Melissa, I almost got excited. Now that you mention it I think I may have seen the film just before Christmas. I can recall Science being played in such a story you describe below. This reminds me I must have a word with my ISP as my characters are appearing wrong again on return mails. Sixteen Pounds came back as 'A316.00'....A little pricey for what probably is a TGAOW version of science. Many thanks, Trev.....(I wonder if anyone has actually brought the soundtrack because of Thomas' involvement?) Cheers, Trevor.. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Melissa R. Unfortunately my dish isn't quite big enough to pick up Russian broadcasts, but I bet you it is the same guy who does the lot! Did you notice whether he did the female parts too? The Polish guy does..Some nights he actually sounds like he's really getting into the part because he raises his voice a semi-tone higher for the female characters. I can't work out though if this is to differentiate between the Characters or if he is actually attempting to sound like a girl? > That's it! Out of interest, I've just run this through the spell checker and the closest word that chyort brings up is cheroot...A double ended cigar. Your Russian translator chap definitely was NOT "close but no cigar" with his descript of "c******king muthaf**ker". >I was given a picture book on Norway for Christmas. Serves the bugger..(oops sorry we don't use that any more do we) right hee hee!. Wow you actually have Norway month in Washington. That's really nice, I've been to Norway a few times now and I must admit that it's one of the most beautiful places on earth. I sincerely recommend it to your friend. The fjords are breathtaking and the mountains surpass anything else I've seen in terms of natural beauty. The only gripe is that the price of alcohol and other essential items is extortionate. Six pounds for a bottle of Tuborg Beer in a club aarghhhh!! Needless to say I was sober enough the whole time to take in the sights. >Melissa, still ticked about a 3-hour drive home (16 miles!!!) because > Washingtonians don't know how to handle A WHOLE HALF-INCH OF SNOW!!!! > (Boneheads!) Oh no that's too bad. We have boneheads here too! It's a common fact here that in Autumn the British rail system grinds to a halt due to leaves on the track! Yes, believe it or not this happens. If it snows..forget it, have a few days off if you can't fly or something. Our road boneheads cause mile long tailbacks by actually slowing down and almost stopping to view accidents on the opposite side of the carriageway???
