On the album, he sings > "How's the bugger, > going to manage..." But on the single version, it's "How's > she ever, going > to manage..." I would guess that the record company feared > that "bugger" > sounded too much like a much less acceptable slang term > starting with "f", > and as for another version. Anybody know the story behind that? Just in case anyone doesn't know: 'Bugger' is a quaint old English term which literally means to sodomise. I think the label weren't worried about people misunderstanding the lyric - more worried about people understanding it! Maybe the record company just ain't into that kind of deal... Thomas has indicated many times record company characteristics which could easily be described as 'anally retentive!' Ouch! Sorry about that. I couldn't resist. Not very PC I'm afraid but nor, I might add, am I usually at 07:30 in the morning. Snore, snore. Have a nice day everyone. But, in case whoever originally asked the question doesn't know, the original Harvest version of "Radio Silence" is completely different from the Capitol version. And there are a couple of different versions of Airwaves as well. The longer one from the EP has a couple of extra verses, and a much longer ending (better song, with the addtional material, I think). For my part, I didn't really intend to react the way I did, but I couldn't help myself. Guess I'm cranky these days too... and I can't even plead light deprivation as an excuse. What's life like in Finland anyway? I am completely curious, since my mom's family is Finnish; in fact, my parents are planning a trip there next winter (my mom's 60th birthday present from my dad). Have you learned the language? Do you have a need to? Oh well, I could go on and on quizzing you, but I won't. Have a better day..... Will try not to rant in the future... It's just that some laws affect even those of us who don't think we'll ever be affected by the laws that are passed. Heck, the music business can be political, so there you go. On a different note, in the song 'She Blinded me With Science,' I always thought a certain line said 'She's winding up and I can't find anything', when actually it says 'She's tidied up and I can't find anything.' Have to say though of many artists in the music business whose music I like, Dolby's music is such that it's not that hard to understand what the lyrics are just by listening to the songs.
