As a matter of course I have it checking about a dozen or so Mac-related (and some not-so-Mac related) sites. Saves time, though for what I'm not sure... Here's what it shoved under my nose when I got home. Though I'd bet Robin's been her usual diligent self and already found and posted this, I thought I'd shove it under yours. Nose that is. It begins: "Music and sound have become validated as one of the hottest items on the Web," said Dolby by way of introduction. He mentioned that MP3 was the most searched word on the Internet (narrowly beating out Brittney Spears and Pokemon). "It's kind of like the movies in the 1920s," he said; not unlike the silent movies that had a live piano player accompanying a prerecorded film, audio on the web is currently seen as a seperate enhancement rather than an integrated component." Are there different mixes of these that I've never heard (different from 12x12)? Blinded By Science is an EP....it also contains the extended version of One Of Our Submarines. And also sports a nifty album cover with Dolby skipping through the mud underneath a red-streaked sky at dusk. Ahh brings me right back to 1983. I love that album. >>>>>Jon andyjmail@cheerful.com wrote: > Hello people, Happy Y2K! > > I've had an email from someone who'd read my page and > wrote to me to ask... > > > I was wondering if you've ever seen a copy of a album called "Blinded by Science" > > > > it's realy odd.. cuz the last 3 tracks.. Did I miss something back in high school?? :-) Ever notice how many things are "rare" on eBay??? Cheers, Melissa, off to look for "The Flat Earth: The Motion Picture!" - -- Melissa R. I *still* like the idea of The Flat Earth: The Motion Picture. I'm going to see the movie Magnolia later this week. P.T. Anderson is a talented filmmaker (Boogie Nights was a good film) and he has great taste in music. Boogie Nights featured some work by Michael Penn (whose music I love). The dvd of Boogie Nights has, as a bonus, the video for Penn's song "Try", which was directed by Anderson as a single shot in the longest hallway in the world, in a courthouse in L.A. Michael Penn works quite a bit with Aimee Mann (from 'Til Tuesday, way back when). P.T. Anderson is friends with both Michael and Aimee. Magnolia, Anderson's new film, is his attempt to make a film around Aimee Mann's music in the form of several tales of life in L.A. that converge at some point. I highly recommend the soundtrack to Magnolia. It's good. It would be cool to see someone put together a film like that around the songs from Flat Earth. Can't you see the characters that would form from the different songs? Now, that would be fun. Oh - I'm going to see Aimee Mann with Michael Penn at a little club here in early February. I'm really looking forward to it. Cheers, - -- Melissa R. Jordan Owner/Artist, Compass Rose Studios (www.crstudios.com) Owner, Compass Rose Consulting (www.askcrc.com) Visit my new blank, websites! I can see it now, Thomas lying in bed tossing and turning in the sweat soaked sheets. Gasps, crys, and whimpering protests escape from between his grinding teeth. He bolts upright screaming "NOOOOOOOooooooo!!!!" His wife quickly cradles his head to her comforting bosom, strokes his sweat matted hair and coos softly in his ear, "It's alright, it's alright, it's just a dream." Thomas clutches the blanket tightly around him, shivering, and says, "It was them... the people from alloy... they were chasing me... trying to get me to cut another album... I ran but... they were everywhere... closing in on me... I was shooting beatnik files at them left and right but it wasn't enought... IT WASN'T ENOUGH..." "Shhhhhh dear" she whispers as she rocks him gently, "It was only a dream... only a dream." Quick pan to the screen of Thomas's computer where the message "YOU HAVE 238 E-MAIL MESSAGES" is flashing. Cue 4 ominous orchestra hits.
