Horrorscopic [Elaine Linstruth Subject: Alloy: Selling Thomas by the pound..... Hello peeps I've been pretty quiet recently as I'm settling into a new job at GMN.com (have a look - it's brilliant!!) We do broadcasts of classical and jazz music and have molto high-end streaming audio etc.... The best bit of my job so far though is that I get to pick 5 records per week for the CD shop, and write reviews for them as recommendations. You can see these at http://www.gmn.com/shop/buyallmusic.asp. I'm picking one or two 'classics' per week, a couple of reasonable sellers, on the off-chance that there's something good on the charts, and one that I leave totally up to my whims!! So if anyone has any suggestions they can send them in (privately!). So which of Thomas' albums should I put up there? I'm going for The Flat Earth at the moment as I think that's the one that most people would remember. Robin T Liberate Technologies Launches PopTV Program Provides End to End Solution Source to Prepare Network Operators For Major Deployments of Interactive TV PopTV Program to Speed Deployment of Interactive TV by Unifying Content, Application and Hardware Developers in Partner Program LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Liberate Technologies (Nasdaq: LBRT) today launched the Liberate PopTV(TM) Program, a developer and technology partner program designed to help bring complete interactive TV offerings to market sooner by providing end-to-end solutions. Rallying the necessary content, application and hardware vendors, Liberate is offering its network operator customers a simplified yet total solution that includes content, delivery and back-end components. The PopTV Program will allow network operators that deploy the Liberate interactive TV solution to benefit from a reduced time-to-market and lower integration costs, as well as provide a wealth of choice of content. Developers and technology providers will be able to tap Liberate's extensive experience in the interactive TV space to benefit the network operator and, ultimately, the consumer. Already, Cable and Wireless Communications and U S WEST have deployed interactive TV service offerings using the Liberate software platform. Cable companies including MediaOne, Comcast and Cox are all expected to deploy service offerings running on the Liberate platform next year, as is the world's third largest satellite provider, Star TV, based in Asia. The PopTV Program will build on this successful foundation. "The PopTV Program is designed to be a community of content, application and hardware providers dedicated to our vision of open standards like JavaTV and ATVEF, and simplifying the broad deployment of interactive TV offerings," said Mitchell Kertzman, president and CEO of Liberate Technologies. "It is our answer to network operator demands for total solutions that deliver value to the end-consumer." PopTV partners will benefit from additional features and service offerings, including access to Liberate tools and technical documents. Specifically, they will have access to the standards-compliant Liberate Content Developers Kit (CDK), which will be available to content providers on a secured section of the PopTV Program Website, http//www.developers.liberate.com . Additional technical benefits include integration assistance, certified training programs, technical support, newsgroups and consulting services. Partners will also be able to share in marketing, branding and promotional opportunities associated with the PopTV Program, including trade show participation, press conferences, co-selling, use of the logo, web site listings, quarterly briefings, and joint collateral. The PopTV Program will host its First Annual Developers Conference in Fall, 2000. Any and all qualified content or technology providers can apply for membership. Acceptance is subject to approval by a committee at Liberate. :: snip to quote :: "Beatnik is thrilled to be a solution provider for Liberate's PopTV program," said Lorraine Hariton, CEO of Beatnik. "We feel that Beatnik's technology is a perfect complement to PopTV's program to provide a total and interactive television experience." ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Dec 1999 09:44:05 -0800 (PST) From: Elaine Linstruth Subject: Re: Alloy: Re: Scorpio rant! It acts very bizarre & freezes up. The grooveGrams site worked perfectly for me when I first went there (when it was first set up) but now I can't seem to connect properly, and it tells me that something different is wrong every time. I clicked on the hyperlink to send a letter to GrooveGram support, and even the letter format kept doing all of these extremely strange things, spontaneously erasing words as I typed, or slicing the line of text in half horizontally, or just stopping the cursor dead even though I was still writing. (I swear to you... this is really happening!!) It wouldn't even let me sign my name - so hopefully my email address will appear somewhere along with the garbled nonsense I probably sent off to some poor tech support person. If they see it the way i sent it - they'll know I need help! on a much happier note, I love the message board for the 'She Blinded Me with Science' Groovegrams. I'm so glad this is getting so many people's attention & everyone's having so much fun with it :) Of course, I have to have the demented computer that won't cooperate, but such is life..! Maybe I'll get it cleared up in time to send in my mix before the deadline (cross fingers) Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Dec 1999 01:06:32 EST From: Spencer2424@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: I am in hell In a message dated 12/14/99 9:55:50 PM Mountain Standard Time, RThurF@aol.com writes: << Of course, I have to have the demented computer that won't cooperate, but such is life..!
