Here are clippings of two news items featuring Beatnik: Equity Marketing, Inc. Launches Interactive Division With Burger King Corporation's Pokemon Website LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Equity Marketing, Inc. (Nasdaq: EMAK) today announced the launch of its interactive division with Hollywood's newest stars: Pikachu, Mewtwo, and the supporting cast from "Pokemon: The First Movie." Equity(TM) worked with Burger King Corporation to design the on-line component of the company's Pokemon(TM) promotion, an interactive project designed to complement in-restaurant efforts. The site features innovative audio technology, developed by Beatnik, Inc., through which "sonified" buttons respond instantly with sound - a new experience for web users. Equity's design was implemented by Fusive.com, which also provides operational and technical support to Burger King Corporation. The interactive music and sounds make the site uniquely entertaining. Accessible through www.burgerking.com, the site is organized into six categories: -- Toys and Trading Cards - colorful photos and descriptions of Burger King Corporation's exclusive 57 premiums, 151 trading cards and six 23-karat gold trading cards. -- Interactive PokeDex - allows visitors to keep track of their personal Burger King(R) Pokemon(TM) collections and receive individual feedback on collection status via electronic mail. The Interactive Pokedex requires individual registration and is password-protected. -- Trading Nights - information for Pokemon(TM) enthusiasts who want to trade their collectibles at special events held every Tuesday night for the duration of the program in BURGER KING(R) restaurants through December. -- Games -- an interactive memory game featuring Pokemon(TM) characters. -- Wallpaper - colorful Pokemon(TM) character designs that can be downloaded and used as computer screen decoration. -- Movie trailer -- a clip from Warner Bros.' new movie, "Pokemon: The First Movie," currently playing in theatres. "An interactive component to our promotion programs helps us build a more personal relationship with our customers," said Richard Taylor, Vice President of Marketing for Burger King Corporation. "With the Pokemon site, we are able to provide a value-added service for fans while generating a great experience for our restaurant customers." The already popular Burger King Corporation web-site experienced a 400 percent increase in traffic during the first week of the promotion, he added. In the PokeDex section of the site, 842 profiles were created in the first six hours of operation, which averages between three and four profiles per minute. "We're obviously pleased with the response to Burger King Corporation's Pokemon site," said Kim Thomsen, Equity Marketing's Executive Vice President of Marketing and Creative Services. "By developing unique, strategic interactive capabilities, Equity is able to integrate our clients' physical and digital faces to the customer. The overall goal is to increase our client's sales and strengthen their brand image." Don Kurz, Equity's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, added: "Moving forward, we expect to significantly expand our interactive capabilities as a core component of our marketing services business. This should serve to deepen relationships with existing clients while enhancing our new business development efforts." "Beatnik knows there are some incredibly imaginative people at work on the Web. Page after page is loaded with eye-popping color, cleverly deployed animation and innovative graphic design; however, almost all of these pages fail to fulfill the expressive potential of the Web because they lack sound. Beatnik's RMF sonification technology solves that problem," said Bahman Dara, Sr. Director of Product and Channel Marketing at Beatnik, Inc. "Beatnik technologies are used to create sonified Web pages that incorporate sound and music, without the complication of JavaScript or HTML code. Beatnik's ActionSet for Macromedia Dreamweaver uses familiar procedures, enabling the user to capitalize on the interactive potential of Beatnik's RMF technology. This solution allows for nearly instantaneous download of high-quality audio to build a dynamic audio identity for any site." ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Dec 1999 14:42:16 EST From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Alloy: Thomas in Ultimate DVD collection Unapix Entertainment Announces Global Release of New "Ultimate DVD Collection" NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 1999--Explores Cutting Edge of DVD Technology, Capabilities and Features Unapix Entertainment, Inc. It was fine just this afternoon. I had a few spare moments this evening & wanted to try doing a mix of "She Blinded Me.." for the contest. The first time I went, the mix thing simply sat there and played a mix again and again, and wouldn't let me make any adjustments. I tried going back, and now I can't even get past the Beatnik site. The moment I get there a sign pops up that says 'Abnormal Program Termination' & then it throws me off the internet. I feel like the inside of my computer is disolving, the strange quirks it comes up with. Has it caught some slow-moving virus that's eating it alive?? Do I have to unload and reload everything i have to make sure it's all in there properly? Are there some programs that contradict others and cause some kind of crossed-wires effect? I wish I could just jiggle the handle or something!
