I cannot possibly describe the thrill it was to be there when the wall came down. I don't remember much - I've killed a lot of brain cells since then - but I do remember standing out on my brother's balcony that night, toasting the euphoria with expensive champagne, and the laughter and songs on the street. I remember, too, how glum (gridlock/shellshock?) Moscow seemed to be when I flew back the following day. I never dreamed in a million years I would be in Russia to see the end of the Soviet Union just a couple of years later, with literally a front row seat, no less! It all seems pretty surreal now. I wonder what it was like for Our Fearless Leader to perform in The Wall at The Wall? Perhaps, when/if he has a free moment, he could let us know what it was like. They have a listing of the top 100 albums of the '80's. TGAOW is number 52. I would have ranked it much higher, thank you very much. :-) Cheers, Melissa, jamming to the Pet Shop Boys "Introspective" waaaay too late at night... - -- Melissa R.
