Hey Kate.. et Alloy.. Well.. I have been traveling a bit. Since our Alloy SCC meeting in LA, I flew to Miami for a night.. then flew onward to Grenada, where I boarded a Windjammer ship for a week long cruise through the Grenadines. It was fantastic! I was able to see some islands I'd never visited in the past.. and did some scuba diving that was really great. The Windjammer ships are also known as the "Barefoot Cruises" They are extremely casual.. (For formal night the captain suggested clean t-shirts.) There were only 49 passengers on for the week.. (The ship holds 64 passengers when it is fully booked) So.. it was a splendid time... indeed. Following the cruise, I spent two nights at a resort on Grenada.. just to add to the decadent lifestyle that I attempt to lead.. :-) Oh.. for those who might be perturbed at no Dolby reference here.. I did bring my CDs and tuned in when I was in the cabin... (Which was not much.. mind you) In essence.. It was such a great trip.. that now that I'm back in Miami Beach working 12 hour days I find myself somewhat depressed.. I wonder why that is?? Ahh well... next week.. I'm off to Nude York for about 3 weeks of fun. I'm dealing with a director who is quite demanding and stretching the budget every which way but the way it needs to go.. We're filming a commercial for an Italian lingerie company.. It should be interesting.. to say the least. In the spot.. the heroine decides to tell her overbearing boss to take this job and shove it.. and so she tosses her papers into the air and strides through the corridor.. her co-workers looking on in shock as she takes off first her blouse.. then her skirt.. to reveal the beautiful lingerie. She goes to the office window and climbs out on the ledge.. Everyone in the street stops and stares while she stands on the ledge.. then.. she jumps! The crowd reacts.. but when we look back.. we see she has turned into a seagull and happily flies away into the New York skyline.. Don't ask.. I didn't write this thing.. I just have to produce it. Oh.. the lingerie line is "Liberti" so I guess that is the concept.. high as it might be.. So.. if anyone is in Manhattan on October 16 and/or 17 and wants to be in the street crowd.. page me at 1-800-428-4570 and I'll get you in.. Hope all is well with all the Alloyed.. sorry for the ramble here... back to lurking.. Ciao for now Mark ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Sep 1999 22:14:00 EDT From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Alloy: Names to Faces Gallery! I've been working on the beginnings of Alloy's new Names to Faces gallery! - here are its skeletal beginnings: http://members.aol.com/RThurF/AlloyNamestoFaces.htm It's published, to the best of my knowledge at least. When I try to visit to check my link (here comes another of my computer sob stories - run!!) it "times out" my connection. Just aol being clunky maybe.. but if anyone has any problems getting to see it, please let me know. Here's my idea on how the Gallery will work once it's all together. Each person will have a little photo of themselves in the main gallery (like what's up now) When the photo of that person is clicked, it takes the visitor to a mini-gallery for just that person. It could just be the larger version of the same picture if that's all I have, or that picture + others the person has provided, and hopefully along with this, a little bit of info (I've written a little questionnaire at the bottom of the gallery page which will hopefully be fun for everyone to fill out! :) and links to the person's home page. There will also be a section for group photos such as the one with Thomas I've put up. This will hopefully include other group photos such as crackers' meeting some of our English Alloy members in London, the meeting of the Colorado contingent, and so on. If people having these images could kindly direct me to their location on the net, or even better, email me the file itself, it would be a real help, because my disorganization tendencies have been flaring up more than usual lately. I've put up everyone's picture from the old Names to Faces as provided by Paul, in no particular order, even though some of the people no longer subscribe (Barbara Cohen, Ms Sakamoto, & Mary Brown) though hopefully they will return or at least drop in for a visit some time! If your photo is there & you don't want it to be, please tell me. If you'd prefer an up-to-date picture, please send it to me & I'll replace it in the gallery. Thanks for looking (or trying to look.... hopefully you'll have better luck than I'm having tonight!!) Robin T ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V4 #259 ***************************
