I don't know why, but the two most immediate images that come to mind about that movie are (first) the creepy boat ride and (second) the rocketing elevator. Then the boat ride sits in my mind for a couple of minutes as images of long worms (or whatever that was) crawling across a womans face, and a chicken loosing it's head. Makes me want to rent it so I can see what other subliminal images that scene put in my mind! Now, how many of you actually remember those images! I do. (sorry to gross you out if I did). The Oompa-Loompas never scared me. ___________ JAMac (Dennis S. It's pouring rain here, thanks, Tropical Storm Dennis. Any plans I might have had to be outside for the weekend got the big thumbs down. And then, lo and behold, when I went to pick up my morning paper outside the door, my fuzzy eyes turned to the Style section - the best part of the Washington Post. No glasses on, but a familiar face beamed from the front page. Yep. Our Fearless Leader. Way too cool. I've attached the URL for the article for your enjoyment. Unfortunately, the online version doesn't have the two great photos that are in the print edition. :-( Catch the final comments about fans. :-) Of course, being a techno-numbwit, I, of course, have to hide under a paperbag for being someone who actually treasures the talismans of autographs... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPcap/1999-09/06/054r-090699-idx.html Coolness. Alan Parsons Project was a huge part of my musical thang in high school. I still love all that music. "Turn of a Friendly Card" was the first full-length cassette I ever bought. Very, very cool stuff. This is going to be quite the week - R.E.M. on Friday, a keyboardist I will not name (because all here will laugh at me) on Saturday, and now Alan Parsons on Sunday. I will be so burned out by Monday, I just won't care. Now, if Our Fearless Leader would only play us a club date, well, then, my millennium would be made... :-) Off to the White House tomorrow a.m. (and again on Wednesday!) I do note that they list his age as 39...has he been messing about with time again? ;) >Catch the final comments about fans. :-) Of course, being a >techno-numbwit, I, of course, have to hide under a paperbag for being >someone who actually treasures the talismans of autographs... You're not alone on either part of that score...Not only am I technically impaired, but I'm a complete sucker for souvenirs. I have to watch myself when I approach someone for an autograph, though...I have an unfortunate tendency to drop into complete drooling fanboy mode. ;) (I still wish I'd had the opportunity to get Weird Al's autograph last week, though.) I've never felt that being an admirer of a person means that you're going to connect on some personal level when you meet, but, darn it, I'd at least like to come off like I'm semi-sentient! Usually, I end up saying something utterly lame-ass and very Tigerbeat-y like: "I really, really like your stuff. It means a lot to me." God. All that college education, and that's all I can come up with in the face of fame. LAME!!! >(I still wish I'd > had the opportunity to get Weird Al's autograph last week, though.) Oh, wow - Weird Al! I love Al. I can still sing all of "Nature Trail To Hell In 3-D!" I was going to catch Weird Al at the Greek Theater in L.A. later this month, but I just had to cancel a work trip to Anaheim. (Long, long story.) "And the Jedi I admire most/met up with Darth Maul and now he's toast..." Heh heh heh... Cheers, M. - -- Melissa R.
