Cool... and thanks for the link. It's a slow loader on my system though - that's my one and only criticism. I look forward to a faster web one day. And somehow the Beatnik REALLY ties up my system (a lowly Pentium) and makes doing anything else seem like wading through treacle. But it all looks delightful. o I've gone through the RMF files folder, some very pleasant music there. Whoo-hoo! (new link on my page) o The old site (with the hyphen) is still there, if you click on the Lyrics link on my page... o My site has been slightly tarted up. I think I've sorted out the midi-file playing. There's now a background image.. what a difference! Some links have been updated. And the "She BINDED me with science" typo has been fixed - thanks to my friend Rob for pointing that out! I noticed last night that the real audio files were not working. I'll have to see what Yahoo/Geocities did with them. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Friday, August 27, 1999 4:18 AM Subject: Alloy: site updates > > Hi all, > > o F.E.S. - Nice changes Thomas! My fiance recently picked up two Dolby CDs for me. She said "I knew I'd never seen these in your collection so I picked them up." Well it turns out they are both compilations called Hyperactive. One is orange and one is blue with a picture of Thomas on the cover. Both have slightly different track listings. I don't have them handy but I recall them both being imports from 2 different countries. Anyway, now I see on CD Now there's an advance order for a CD called Hyperactive that's being released Sept 14th. Is this going to be a third CD of the same name, or a domestic release of one of the other two? Or it may be yet another collection of TD tracks....after all, this IS the record label that brought us five or six versions of The Golden Age of Wireless. :) Time will tell! I am working on a project relating to some of my favorite old songs that I will inform you all about in due course. Sorry it's taking a while, I have been immersed in Beatnik, which is going gangbusters. :: Thomas, I'm glad things at Beatnik are going so well. Your news now has me (and probably everyone else!) even more on the edge of my seat than I've already been! I'm sitting here wondering about the nature of the project - purely music? Music with images/film/interactive..? Not to mention the nature of the songs themselves. I can't wait to hear of your further developments. Thank you so much for sonifying your site with your own compositions. I couldn't be more thrilled. I wandered over to the FES first thing after waking up this morning and in my still-half-dreamstate, simply wasn't prepared to hear a new Dolby composition.. and one so introspective and tragic, at that... but at the same time very deeply comforting. It's really hard to describe how this piece came across to me... but I'd love it if the first three minutes of my day were always like that. Also, in the post I just made about the links, I forgot to mention how very happy I am that, when a visitor goes to any of the Alloy members' links, the music from the FES continues to play without missing a beat. I've been wanting to learn how to sonify with Beatnik - and still will - but having this is such a huge favor. How on earth is it done? (but that's for me to find out) Thanks again Thomas, and congratulations on your beautiful new page! I've seen in mentioned here a few times, but there has been no reference to what it is. Could someone please explain it to me, either by personal email or to the list? :: In case no one's explained (or in case others want to hear this info too) '12x12' is a collection of original remixes, that is, Thomas' other versions of his well known releases. Dance mixes, extended versions, etc... some of which having never before been available on CD. Robin T ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V4 #235 ***************************
