And I finally found the OMD pages too! Hurrah! What a strange feeling it is to have such a long-running mystery solved. (I had tried the same thing about a year ago... but it helps if you get the chorus right! D'oh! How embarrasing it is - to be sure of the wrong words) So.. off I pootle to the local record shop (2nd-hand vinyl of course) and there it was... a special edition of Organisation with a bonus 45. Splendid. And it sounds VERY different in stereo - there's stuff going on in there that I hadn't picked out before (that doesn't sound right), it's going to have to grow on me. I'm afraid I might have ruined something for myself by all this meddling. Still, it's a darn good track, although the rest of the album is unlikely to float my boat - why do I always like just ONE SONG on an album?!! Except TMDR of course. And Crowded House/Mr.Finn... The peace of mind is nice, there's one less thing to wonder about in my mad existance. Now if only I could figure out the eternal youth thing... ... oh b*****r, it's a bit late for that :) Toodle-pip y'all +Andy+ P.S. Thanks Robin, hope everything is getting better your way. And no, I haven't even had success PHONING the dentist yet... engaged tone every time I've tried! You've gottta larf, 'aven't you?!! It's only a ragged edge on a lower left molar. It just gave way on pizza-crust... after years of abuse. No pain. Yet. P.P.S. Misheard lyrics... on a web-page somewhere: THOMAS DOLBY: "As deep as any ocean" mis-heard as: "She tinkles in the ocean" ... glad I'm not the only one with cloth-ears. I'll not be able to hear that song again and forget the tinkle variation, hehe. even-more-Ps.S. For UK enthusiasts, this bloke here: http://www.dlusman.demon.co.uk/ ... has some 2nd-hand Dolby he's willing to part with : THOMAS DOLBY GOTHIC (Film soundtrack) G/EX 2.00 THOMAS DOLBY MAY THE CUBE BE WITH YOU +2 EX/VG 1.50 THOMAS DOLBY AIRHEAD (ext) +3 EX/EX 1.50 - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Get your free email from AltaVista at http://altavista.iname.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1999 20:00:39 +1000 From: Paul Baily Subject: Re: Alloy: Mystery song, half-OT (!) >Song : Promise >Artist: Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark >Album : Organisation !? Hmm. Thought those lyrics rang a bell.
