I haven't tried to visit in a while. He and I did speak about the Alloy FAQ/home page recently, since I'm setting up my own Dolby page at last & will have information about Alloy there... I asked permission to quote from his extremely well-written document when setting up my own, with frequent references to him (as much-worshipped List Originator!! :) He liked the idea.... as far as where his page has gone, I really don't know. Maybe it's just out of commission for the time being? By the way Russ, I love your page so far!! I like the extra-nice touch of having Beatnik there, too. Very pretty! I look forward to seeing it develop as you go along. Thanks...I will be adding more Beatnikification in the future. - -Russ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 May 1999 22:14:39 PDT From: "Ian Gifford" Subject: Alloy: Re:instilling fear in small animals Robin Asked... ...Anyone else here get that kind of encouragement from your pets? Robin, It seems that all the animals that I play near, want to join in!! It's really annoying especially if I am rehearsing for a show. Of course it is fun at parties and such but only for the first 5 minutes and as long as it stays under 80db ;) My Love bird (luna) lives upstairs so she isn't as bothersome. I set up a makeshift studio in my livingroom last month. Every track I recorded that weekend has bird chatter on it. It adds a really neat effect to some of the instrumental pieces but gets to be a little much. My dog Waverley seems to like Blues and traditional Native chanting as well as three part harmonies. He will howl along for an entire tune and can really add to a tune! Sometimes, however, I wish he had a volume knob!! As an interesting aside; he seems to really like "Mulu..." and "Don't turn away" from the Flattery Earth disc! Last year I believe it was Pulp Culture. Anyone else haave these experiences?
