He is now gainfully employed again as a network administrator or something of that nature here in Denver. This time it is a full hire position, not contract, so there is no forseeable down time ahead. I'm sure now that he is working again he will get caught up with his emails and we will hear again from him soon. Thank you for giving us the happy update, Keith. Stephen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 May 1999 03:56:36 -0400 From: "Stephen M. One of the moments that especially caught my audio attention was the scene in the Senate Chamber. (Brian may remember me leaning forward and cocking my head at different angles at this point in the movie.) The sound crew did an outstanding job of simulating a large chamber with many small sound sources coming at you in almost a spherical fashion, or, if you like, radially in three dimensions. We're getting closer to true 3-D sound. Hey kids, How are y'all? First order of business.... ...enough of the phantom Menace talk already!!!! I am so jealous of those of you lucky enough to have seen it. Like many of you I saw the first SW in 1978 and was in line for the premiers of the next two. The Phantom Menace has been on my mind since the ewoks threw their "fru-fru" little party etc. It's kind of like the Steven King series (the Gunslinger) where I will sit and meditate on the thought "Please George Lucas, don't die yet". Just Kidding. Second... Monja De is Back! Hello dear. How's the schoolin' goin'? How's the British spring? MY London has been wet wet wet!!! Third... I wanted to ask the Dolby experts among you if TMDR has ever done any acting other than the WALL thang? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? At the time, I was at a German-American conference on aging and communication, my first trip away from the baby, missing her terribly. (Happily, Mark did a beautiful job of taking care of her in my absence, and there was more than enough milk in the freezer.) No, you are not the only one here who has scared the pets. Some years ago, Mark received his late mother's flute which she played in high school band where she met Mark's father. Mark tried playing it. He didn't get past a few notes before the cat started yowling. He dismissed it as coincidence and tried another note or two, until the cat marched into the room and started howling even louder right at Mark. I have occasionally gotten a similar but much milder reaction when I sing. Sigh...
