I'm heading to the mothership in Redmond for a few days next week and hope to have some evening free to hook up : some live music and beers would be divine.... any takers ? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 9 May 1999 19:25:36 EDT From: RThurF@aol.com Subject: Alloy: Mothers' Day (OT) I hope all of the wonderful moms on Alloy are being treated like royalty today!! I've been stressed out & really spacey all weekend. Today I've just come back from visiting my mom for Mother's Day, she has unfortunately been in the hospital since Wednesday because of surgery. Her recovery is now being slowed by several complications & I've been really worried about her. She *is* in extremely good hands at the hospital, which I'm thankful for, and since my mom worked as an orthopedic nurse all her life many of her own closest friends are nurses too... they always check up on her when they visit (which is very frequently!). However having to tolerate such intense pain for so many days as a result of her surgery is draining her optimism. Today it was clear that the new health complications have brought her spirits even further down. I just have to keep reminding her that though her progress is slow, it is still progress, and her body will continue to heal in spite of the setbacks. I'm trying to be cheerful and optimistic in her presence. I just wish there were more I could do. Dave and I have brought lots of pretty presents to her for her hospital room, mingled in with all the flowers she's received, and I call her every day. If I may ask, what are some ideas you at Alloy might have for cheering up someone in a long hospital stay? I may not be on here very much for the next few weeks, but I have to say that Thomas' response really made me smile the other day... many thanks to Thomas for being so sweet :) Crackers, I love the anagrams & have run my own name through that web site. I can't even repeat most of mine... and I was distressed at how many of them contained the word 'Nazi' (as in 'Nazi Whore on Restful Branch'!) Yeeesh! Robin T who is NOTHING like her anagram...! ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V4 #138 ***************************
