Oh, it wasn't like that. I was just being my typically talkative and friendly self. (This was *before* Thomas made his entrance, mind you. Afterwards my attention was riveted.) In retrospect the event was all the more strange because my soon-to-be ex-wife was even then planning the demise of our marriage. She was just being territorial and bitchy. Bitchy because I dragged her out to the city on a weeknight and Thomas was *very late* getting on stage. He didn't start until 23:00 or something, it was a Wednesday or Thursday night, we had an hour's travel to get back home, had to work in the morning, and we had just seen him a few nights before. Come to think of it I was a little bitchy too . . . Of course it didn't help that the Peachy's Puff girl was equally friendly, drop-dead gorgeous, *and* dressed to kill . . . > Voice Farm - no you've never heard of them... Actually I think I have. Never saw you folks, but I am pretty certain of seeing the name in the "Pink Section" (for the outlanders, that's what we call the entertainment section of the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle / Examiner) on occasion. The name rings a bell! So tell us, Debrah, are you a singer? Do you pay an instrument or three? Out with it! Brian wrote: > The Omni? I saw The Lost Toy People on the warm-up tour at The Daily Planet in Santa Rosa and then at Club DV8 in San Francisco. The following year I saw the post AAMB release show at The Fillmore. Kathleen was with him that night, as I think you may recall, and Thomas introduced her (spotlight on upper balcony, stage-left) while simultaneously announcing the fact of his marriage. There may have been a collective female ::sigh:: from the audience at that moment. As previously alluded to, I was single at the time. Cynic or no, I wished them luck. Still do. Thomas and Kathleen must've celebrated their ten-year anniversary last year. Congratulations! Last night saw the convening of in London of a small bunch of Alloids, the_copse, Crackers, and Lem Bingley, along with my mate Jos who was tagging along. I reckon this is only the third mini-Alloy-convention, after Denver, and some on the west coast right? Anyway, a great time was had by all, despite the fact that we could only really get started at 9.30. Lem and Crackers had been in a pub near Victoria, and came to meet us, as we'd been up north to look at a studio. Crackers' wife Beena and the kids were catching up on some sleep back at the hotel, so it was like a regular boy's night out, with much admiration of Crackers' cool Canadian army shirt from the English side, and much disbelief from the others at our pathetic level of devotion to Dana Scully (that's the actual real-life Scully, not that actress who pretends it's all fiction OK?). Crackers and Jos took lots of photos which he'll post to his page when he gets back. After a number of drinks in a fairly short space of time, we left the pub for Leicester Square, and Lem left for home as he had some meetings this morning. The rest of us piled into a Mexican place seconds before the doors closed and got stuck into more food and drink. Particularly entertaining was Crackers ordering a cider by mistake and then taking a big swig out of it. I really hope he got back to his hotel OK, because I left him alone to find his way to the Victoria Line at Green Park, as I had to grab the last train back to H'row. I hope he's not still wondering around Stockwell somewhere! What an excellent evening. If anyone's interested the next reunion will be on a large makeshift rig just outside Headspace's main gate where all Alloids will form a band to play our cover versions very loudly. At least that's what we were planning late last night........ the_copse ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Mar 1999 13:06:06 EST From: CJMark@aol.com Subject: Re: Alloy: Alloy Anglo-Canadian London reunion Tim.. Why can't you lot get together somewhere civilised, like the picturesque and totally hip North West of England???? Even if I hadn't forgotten about this meeting (which I had) I couldn't have made it anyway. Too much damn work, including a nasty attack of the Ethan Word Macro Virus which has taken us over two days to totally eradicate. I'm currently owed 40 days leave, but dog knows when I'll get to take any of it. Anyroadup, glad some of you managed to get together. If it happens again, give me plenty of notice and I'll try to book some time off. Not sexist really, just a "little" bold. I am weird; I wrote several semi-erotic poems in my first book but if I hear sex in music I suddenly become a prude!? HA...I have no idea why I like music to be untouched by sexual references when I am personally going straight to hell myself when they check my references at the gates. > Please DON"T READ the rest of this if use of proper names of female body parts > grosses you out... WARNING... but there was an exhibit financed by the NEA Ick, that's gross but somehow gets funded by the government? What is art to one is *&%# to another I suppose. My musical recording career is over so it's old news but they are still dear friends and still record CD's. They were keyboard only and me on drums in 1980+ then when I had kids they went for better drum machine '-) and added guitar and got to open the Depeche Mode-Black Celebration tour (bastards;). They do soundtracks/commercials mostly now so they have been lucky to make a living with music somehow. ==== > > The Omni? Wow, how do you remember such small details, photographic memory? I have never witnessed anything like that, must have made Dolby feel sad in a way...or maybe boosted his ego, made him think he was Mick Jagger. (ugh gross) ==== > > As previously alluded to, I was single at the time. Cynic or no, I > wished them luck. Still do. Thomas and Kathleen must've celebrated > their ten-year anniversary last year. Congratulations! ==== Ok you're more than a fan and I didn't realise it before! Do you work with him at headspace? I didn't even know you were friends. Maybe you should fess up Stephen? '-) Hey some marriages DO last forever! I am the only one in my family that divorced. My parents just had their 50th anniversary and both my sisters have been married over 30 years. I'm sure they've all had rough spots but they worked them out, real love not based only on sexuality is a beautiful thing to see. I envy all of them. I am too much of a loner to do the work involved. Maybe your marriage now will last forever, did you say you are married now? Debrah ------------------------------ End of alloy-digest V4 #85 **************************
