If you write me privately, I can get you a copy of what the twins look like. As for Caroline 452, she may be a blond since Lene Lovich covered her lovely dark hair with a frizzy blond wig for the video. But then again, it refers to a pirate radio station TMDR used to listen to as a teen so perhaps she has dark hair as well. >> Sorry to say this Mary, but Rebecca unsubscribed from the list today too. Normally I would never have done this publically but given the circumstances, and what the other members of this list have been through for the past week, I REALLY want to. Stephen, thank you for apologising for your actions, however I must insist that any steps you take of any kind regarding my list in any capacity must first be run past me for approval. For instance in this case, I would definitely have gone over the wording of your invitation to eBay folks very carefully with you to hopefully have avoided any problems. Please respect the fact that I am the list's owner by following my wishes from now on. We have gained a few very nice new members, but the rest of the ensuing chaos caused by this action has left Alloy permanently scarred. I now have to relay some very bad news which directly relates to the permanent changes all of this has wrought. One of the new subscribers (I assume) had the audacity to write privately to Melissa, anonymously no less, and insulted her about her recent post to the point where she has, indeed, permanently unsubscribed from Alloy. Because of this, and other posts she felt were overly critical of Alloy & its regular contributors, she decided it was time to move on. I quote from her letter to me: <> To whoever wrote that insulting & cowardly anonymous letter to Melissa, and to all other members who have not had the distinct privilege of making Melissa's acquaintance, I'll tell you that she is one of the finest, most intelligent, sincere, and talented people any of us will ever come across. I regret her leaving Alloy more than I could ever say. She was one of Alloy's founding members & in every way irreplaceable. Not a day will go by in which I will not miss her presence here. Other regular Alloy members have unsubscribed themselves from the list this week, or asked to be unsubscribed. I do hope it is only temporary until things cool down around here. Write with any questions, everyone. Bye Lichaem. You owe Lissu a huge apology for your truly unneccessary, spiteful and completely inappropriate rant. LOL! Well, its better than Deresa. Actually, we came up with an unusual arrangement of our names. Both first names are 6 characters. Our last names begin with 'A' (Adams in her case). Teresa writes her capital 'T's in a way that, when turned 90 degrees clockwise, it's an 'A', and 90 more, it's a 'D'. Writing from each, you can (simply and obviously) write 'Dennis,' 'Teresa' and 'Alexander.' It gets better! The second to last character of Dennis is 'I.' Teresa's middle name is 'Inez.' The second to last character of Teresa is 'S.' My middle name is 'Scott.' Hows that for cool! ___________ JAMac (Dennis S. Yes, in this sick world, such things happen. Wait till this "young" man finds out that everyone has "faults" and what we DID have in common WAS perfect...jeesh I want to go lay in a tomb now '-) Next time I check ID's make sure I'm dealing with an adult...Why do people keep telling me I should watch "How Stella got her groove back" I wonder...? Just be patient. I'm 31 and finally found my true love. (she just kissed me when I wrote that. Whoo hooo!) I knew many women who were 'perfect.' I never realized that there would be one woman out there, some day who really WAS perfect. (she kissed me again! What else could I say?! Hmmm...) I look back now and I wasn't ready for marriage. I had a lot of growing up to do. After all, Teresa is only 23 yet our maturity levels seem perfectly matched. . . (nope, no kiss) . . . (now she's laughing and kissing me!) After all, my best friend married my high school dream. And years later, another best friend stole my girlfriend on a double-date, dumping the woman I am now engaged to! They were miserable, even before they got married! Us, well, we havn't even had a real argument yet! If you ever have a question in your heart or mind or if the other person doesn't respond appropriately, it's not meant to be. I was very close to a woman that I knew for 7 years and dated on and off for 2. I couldn't ask her to marry me as something there wasn't right. I would have been miserable with her. My heart already knew what my mind was trying to figure out. (...now she's kissing and love-biting my shoulder!) Both your heart and mind must be in union. ___________ JAMac (Dennis S. I had come to think of Alloy as the kitchen gathering spot in an artists' colony, where life, love, philosophy, music, and such were discussed, along with Dolby news whenever some came up on the horizon... >> I'm sorry, also, that my letter which should've originally contained this was issued to the list TWICE. I had written it & thought I'd posted it, but I've been really beside myself about this whole situation & sent it again a few hours later, thinking I hadn't put it through properly the first time (it still hadn't appeared in my mail; must've gotten tangled up somewhere) Now that all of my feelings have been vented, I sincerely hope everyone here will forgive me for having to throw someone out on his ear like that. I've known for a long time that Alloy is such a rare thing for a fan list, a real community of people who've known one another for years & are only too glad to welcome new members into the fold... and there I was for the last few days watching it all fall down around me. List members new and old helpfully voiced their opinions amid the chaos & tried so hard to set things right again, and it looked like things might be clearing up, but when lichaem let loose on Lissu, who was only trying her best to explain problems with the list & provide solutions, and could not have been more helpful in her approach... combined with Melissa unsubscribing because of an abusive letter sent to her directly by an 'anonymous' member (among many others who unsubscribed because they just didn't want to deal anymore) it really was the absolute last straw. I only hope the members we've lost will one day consider coming back. Our community is diminished without them. Stephen, again, thanks for your statements of apology. I didn't mean to rant on you all over again about it, I simply wanted to restate my position solidly where things pertaining to Alloy are concerned. I've been put through a lot this week both personally & from trying to keep this whole list from going completely ballistic. I take my list ownership seriously & Thomas deserves to have a respectful fan list. Having all these insults & snide remarks being hurled from one (former) Alloy member to others is nowhere near respectful to Thomas or to what this list is supposed to represent. I feel that new members who have stuck with us through this unanticipated rough spot are not getting their fair share from Alloy, and I'd like to extend my most sincere apologies to them as well. Welcome all, and sorry for the bad start. Please stay with us. I promise everything will clear up soon & you'll begin to see Alloy as a pleasant place to be subscribed to. And... I could keep writing all night about this because I feel so awful about everything that's happened. I hope the list will stay in tact & we can put this matter behind us very soon. Meanwhile, of course, everyone is welcome to say their piece (as always, I'm open to criticism, so heap it on at will) For those who remain, I think introductions are in order. Me: usually not so bitchy, 30-year-old visual artist & violin/viola/cello maker, learner of embroidery & machine sewing, and cello performance student, relocating from Boston to the Home of Smoe in upstate NY in three weeks. Dedicated fan of Thomas Dolby since I was 15 :) Married to David who is also on this list, he is a painter and computer graphics wizard. No children, one elderly ferret (Ramirez) and that's about all I can come up with right now... uninspired I know, but it's past my bedtime. xxx Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Mar 1999 23:19:18 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Alloy: The Golden Age of Video I just sent an e-mail to Pioneer entertainment inquiring about the possibility of The Golden Age of Video being released on DVD.
