Could one of the UK people help me out here - are there such things as "international postal money orders" over there? I just sold six lps of Russian folk music to someone on eBay, and he just let me know that he's in London. Claims he can't pay in anything but cash. I find this pretty bizarre (and a dangerous way to post someone $100). Here, the post office offers a whole variety of int'l postal money orders (I know the ones for Canada are a lovely pink and the domestic ones are a perky green...) Anyway, if someone there can give me scoop, I'd be grateful. I can't tell if he's being a stubborn Russian butthead or if it's for real. He wanted me to take a credit card! Bwah hah hah! Thanks! - - Melissa - -- Melissa R. I already had this one stuck in my head previously so it's off my mental playlist, you evil Melissa! What is there is the fantastic b-side contributed to the BDay project by Lissu. Warning: very, very habit forming!! Stephen and I were quietly singing or humming it all through dinner. I commented we were dealing with the fallout from "Shelter" which elicited a wince from my better half. And in response to your question about sending money through the post, it's not an uncommon request. The Split Enz/Crowded House/Finn Brothers fan club director insists on being sent cash because I think he's had too many headaches trying to get funds from around the world converted to Australian dollars. Plus I believe he's had other problems as well. Stephen bought some vinyl from Hong Kong which added up to well over $100 and it turns out the best deal for everyone involved would have been for him to send cash. Your buyer will be taking his chances by sending cash but he can just insure it for that amount and if it gets stolen, then he can recoup it. Just wait for the money before you send the discs which is a reasonable thing to ask, I say. Oh, and Mark, we're going to hold you to seeing us in the spring! Perhaps we can rouse Brian from his computer to come along too. It involves some interesting religious references, great hallucinatory sequences, and the most realistic depiction I've ever seen on film of what a migraine feels like! secondly, some of you might be interested in seeing my friend David Wiebe's page. I worked with him when I was a student at North Bennett Street School... he was a visiting master, and he coached me extensively on construction techniques for my viola da gamba (he himself being a world-reknowned violin/viola/cello/bass maker) Some of his clients include violinist Yehudi Menuhin, violist William Primrose, and Robert Hurst, bassist for the Tonight Show Band/Branford Marsalis Band. His page can be found as , it shows some of his beautiful instruments and describes some of the techniques used in violin making. He's my favorite & most highly respected artist in this field. thirdly... Thomas' soundtrack for Gothic!! in which I indulged myself while dismantling shelves this weekend. Absolutely wonderful work which I become rapturously lost within. I hope Thomas does more along these lines one day for all us enthusiasts :) Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 22:33:19 -0700 From: "Keith Stansell" Subject: Re: Alloy: three things Note to self: Rent or buy 'pi' on DVD to listen to the commentary track. I saw the film at the theater this summer and I'd really like to hear know more about that brain in the subway. Don't poke the brain! I'd also like to recommend the 'pi' soundtrack album. Heavy techno sounds. - -Keith - ----- Original Message ----- From: >first of all, a recommendation: the film 'Pi' about a mathematician in pursuit >of the most elusive of all numerical patterns.
