Hi y'all, Tonight I thanked the goddess of impulse that made me go out and buy a nice little Sony turntable to add to the "Statue of All Things Audio" a few months back. Due to my current lack of CDs, I rummaged through my record collection gathering dust in the spare room and gleefully fished out such delectable treats as The Flat Earth, The Golden Age of Wireless, She Blinded Me With Science 12" as well as some [imho] spectacular Icehouse singles, Crazy 12", Electric Blue 12", Nothing Too Serious 12", Crazy 7", No Promises 7", some The The, namely Soul Mining, and Sweet Bird Of Truth 12", The Cure's The Top, and New Sensation 12" by INXS (this one seriously rocks when played loud!) It's a bit of a nuisance having to change sides but it's oh-so-nice to hear this stuff again! Oh, and I have a favour to ask if I may. I can remember three CD singles that went that I'm sure I'm going to have no chance of getting hold of here. If you could keep an eye out for copies of these I'd be ever so grateful and will gladly pay purchase price plus postage if you happen to find one. Okay, they are: Depeche Mode: Useless Depeche Mode: It's No Good Vertigo: Forever Lately The rest of my singles were next to the CD player and they didn't see or touch these. cheers, Paul. (who shuddered a bit when he found that he still had the 7" single "99 Luftballons/Nena") This message powered by White City off The Flat Earth/Thomas Dolby. The vinyl version. Heh! [They can have my Dolby when they prise it from my cold dead fingers from HELL!!] ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Jan 1999 00:19:12 -0500 From: MacSuirtain Subject: Alloy: January Into February Doldrums How about musical recommendations to cure winter boredom? Here's mine: "Songs From the Victorious City" by Anne Dudley (Art of Noise) & Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke). It reminds me so much of Cairo. It's impossible to sit still for some of the tracks - "Minarets and Memories" makes me want to dance and spin wildly. Marvelous stuff - it will cure what ails you spiritually in this miserable cold and flu season. If you don't have a copy, you should find one. I'm up cataloguing all my cds on a zip disk. Paul's unfortunate experience, coupled with the very strong possibility that I'm about to be uprooted, made up my mind for me. Yeah, I'm a hot Saturday night date - me, a floor covered in cds, and a big mug of hot Oregon Chai (beverage of the gods). Cheers, Melissa - -- Melissa R.
