I have to run off to work & have only heard about the first five minutes of it so far, but it's wonderful! Is this taken from one of the lectures showcasing Beatnik? I loved hearing him discussing the role of the artist in society. It falls right in line with everything I believe about the necessity of art of all kinds in everyday existence. It reminds me of something that's been nagging at me. Dave is researching a lot of things pertaining to this lately & we hear lots of things about how a brochure sells a substantial % more work for the artist than sending in slides does (it's quick, attractive, easy to view) but that the 'art world' frowns upon brochures. When the fact is, that we the artists (musicians, painters, illustrators, photographers etc) ARE the art world, and can decide to do anything we want to showcase our work.. everyone else is under our employment (record companies, galleries, etc). When did society switch these around so that artists feel they have to kowtow to those they actually employ?? Is there a way to copy this sort of file (the one at http://www.soundz.com/feature/sndzite/tdolby/tdolby.ram)? I can work out something but it isn't very high tech..! What is the recommended method if any? Robin T ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Jan 1999 14:58:54 +0200 From: "Ulfstedt, Louise" Subject: RE: Alloy: Thomas Speaks Thanks for the link Lee! It's the expression of the idea that is copyrighted, not the actual words. It may fit under fair use, if the author is given credit. Of course, you could always write for permission to republish the article. This is not legal advice!
