I started to sing and the spirits quieted down. I guess it figures that I would dream this, since last night my fiance and I saw the movie 'BLADE'. You know it would be really cool if they came out with a 'BLADE' II starring Wesley Snipes and Grace Jones. Those two would be quite a team!!. The last time I dreamed of Dolby was some months ago. I was at one of his concerts (never been to any of them in real life!), and he came right to me and whispered something in my ear then kinda danced away back to the stage. Kinda interesting. Don't know what was whispered, but his presence was quite strong in my dream. Eh, wish I could visit people in their dreams; of course not implying our favorite artist can...... My dreams almost always just feature people I know in my immediate circle, or animals, or random strange dream characters - but every now & then, Mr Dolby will appear out of the blue & give me some spectacularly bizarre piece of advice, then he's gone again. We worked in the same office, and during our down time we'd amuse ourselves by crambling the letters of peoples' names to see what silly combinations we could come up with. It was he who came up with Slarvibarglhee, and Elaine's pronunciation is exactly the same as Doug's, which I've always just assumed is the correct one. Once he'd discovered 'Slarvibarglhee,' he tended to call me by that name. For some reason I liked the way it scanned, being similar in metre to Slartibartfast, the chap who designed the crinkly bits in the fjords in 'The Hitch-hiker's guide to the Galaxy' which was very popular at that time. This was long before the internet was a twinkle in anyone's eye, but when I first found the FES Tap Room and needed a handle to sign in with, Slarvibarglhee seemed the most natural to use. It was as though I'd been waiting for just such opportunity to use it. A few people have attempted to unscramble it, but no one's been successful so far, though I revealed it on Alloy long ago, and use my 'official' sig when I've got my serious head on. As for Robin's name, I always think of it as Arthurfle for some strange reason, probably because I know her surname is Thurlow and the 'F' on the end confuses my reading centre. Slarv This message powered by Bruce Hornsby's new CD, 'Spirit Trail' which I'm listening to for the first time as I type this, and it really rocks; much better, on first impression, than his last two solo efforts.
