We already have the Star Wars monopoly in hard form (board and all) and in software form. I like the hard version better. I like to handle my money and play manually rather than on the computer. Although, there are some very cool miniature golf games for the computer. Anyway, thought I'd add my two cents about Monopoly. I have checked. what's wrong, smoe guys? I'll put crackers second bounced message through the unofficial way. here goes: << Hey everyone, I'm back online again after the holidays. What a hectic time of year. Still running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get all my loose ends tied up before I head off to India for a month. I will likely have a 1 day stop over in London England if any of our London based alloyites would like to get together for a beer or what not. Got my shots yesterday and now my arm hurts from the Typhoid shot. I found out why I had siesures the first time I went to India too. The malaria medication causes epileptics to have siesures and I failed to report my epilepsy on the vacination form the first time. I thought it was just the stress of the long flight. Luckily this time I'm only going to Kerala which isn't in the Malaria zone so I don't need to take any Malaria medication. Other than preparations for the trip I've been busy in the studio recording a new album with "I Love My Shih'Tzu" the new band I'm playing with (there's a link to their webpage on my webpage and you can listen to all the songs from their first CD on their webpage). We want to be sure to get all my parts recorded before I bugger off to India. I was joking that that way if I die in a plane crash they can capitalize on my tragic death to sell more CDs. I'll be posthumously famous and everyone who has ever met me can strike it rich by writing a "tell all" biography. (Be sure to mention the night we got drunk and dressed the sheep up in women's clothing... sex sells). My kids made out like bandits at X-mas this year. X-mas is much more fun when you have kids because then you get to play with their toys too. Had a nice, quiet newyear's eve at home with the family. Wrote an E-mail to our Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and our Heritage Minister to complain about the new recordable media tax that is supposedly being enforced to benefit musicians by compensating them for piracy. A 50 cent per 15 minutes of recording time tax is being added to blank tapes, DAT, CD-Rs and anything else you can concievably record music on. The money goes to SOCAN who will in turn redistribute it according to the percentage of royalties they distributed last year to SOCAN registered musicians. I wrote Sheila Copps (the mastermind behind this tax) a letter outlining my concerns. The tax hurts independent musicians who buy recordable media to record and release their own works, it hurts musicians not registered with SOCAN, it hurts businesses that use DAT and CD-R to back up files and store data, it hurts computer users who use CD-Rs for their own legitimate purposes and it hurts all Canadians by whittling away at one of our fundimental rights granted us under our legal system, the right to be assumed innocent until proven guilty. Our federal government has decided that anyone who owns a tape deck, DAT machine, or CD-R is guilty of piracy and should be punished with this tax to compensate musicians. The only thing is, the only people who will benefit from this tax are the big record labels, and the "mega-artists" like Celine Dion (which is why Canadian musicians are refering to the new tax as the Celine Dion Tax). Computer users, businesses and independent musicians are being unfairly and unjustly taxed so that Celine Dion can buy a new house. If you're a Canadian and would like to complain about the new tax here are some e-mail addresses you can write to... pm@pm.gc.ca "Jean Cretien - Prime Minister" grayh@parl.gc.ca "Mr. Gray, the Deputy PM" and the e-mail addresses of the ring monster behind this retroactive tax. coppss@parl.gc.ca min_copps@pch.gc.ca Copps.S@parl.gc.ca You might want to Cc: you letter to your local news agencies too and as: newsworld@toronto.cbc.ca pulse@citytv.com mediatv@citytc.com And if you're a musician be sure to Cc: it to: newmusic@muchmusic.com muchmail@muchmusic.com It's important that the news media who have been presenting stories on this new tax as if it was something Canadian musicians have been asking for to understand that the vast majority of Canadian musicians do not want this tax and will be hurt by it. (Most of us registered with SOCAN will likely not even see enough of this tax back to cover the tax on a single blank cassette). It's pretty damn hard to get Canadians motivated enough to actually do something about something. We love to complain about injustice but we usually just submit to the authority of our politicians without much of a fight. I've been spending a great deal of time lately trying to motivate Hamilton area musicians to voice their protests against this tax that will more than double the cost of blank tapes and CD-Rs but have been mostly meeting with "yeah, it sucks, but what are you gonna do?" My contribution would have been done earlier, but I've been delayed by being in and out of the hospital several times since September. The last two times were 1) to remove my gallbladder, followed by 2) to have an ERCP (camera down the throat into the bile duct) to remove the stones and "gravel" that got loose during trip #1. The stones that caused the problems weren't your typical smooth cholesterol stones - they were black, spiked, asteroid-like pigment stones, which are liver-related and no fun whatsoever. At least everything is cleaned out now, and I finally feel back up to par. The stones that caused the problems weren't your typical smooth cholesterol stones - they were black, spiked, asteroid-like pigment stones, which are liver-related and no fun whatsoever. At least everything is cleaned out now, and I finally feel back up to par. >> That whole procedure sounds horrible! I'm so glad you're feeling well again. Did the doctor just describe the stones to you, or did you actually see them in a scan? did they let you keep any of them in a jar? ..do hospitals still do that? Here in America the phone companies would just looove to tax all of us citizens using the internet and email. Isn't that wonderful?? My kids made out like bandits too this Christmas. They got some very cool toys. My youngest son got a Hot Wheels computer racing game that we have all been playing. Hate to admit it, but I still like to play with hot wheels. My oldest son got a magnetic chess set. He's pretty good at chess, and beats me just about everytime we play against each other. Have fun in India despite the shots you had to take. Is your children going with you? Hopefully this April I'll be going to Scotland and see the Highlands.
