The impression I have (and I may be wrong -- and I bet Thomas himself or one of his inner circle could correct me) is that there hasn't been much time available to set aside for the maintenance of The FES site. If I'm not mistaken, Our Fearless Leader did mention sometime last year his desire to do all sorts of neat things with it, but, surely with all the Headspace activity, it's gone by the wayside - for now, at least. Bummer, eh? I really *do* miss the old Tap Room. The "Sweet Cheese Is Made Of Cream" dream thread needs a revival. And (with a non-sequitor spin) where the heck is Crackers? And Miles and Mary? Buehler? Buehler? You guys are awfully quiet out there! Makes the rest of us very suspicious... well... maybe that's just me... - -- Melissa - -- Melissa R. This is not the first time that this subject has been raised, but as Thomas' efforts are now concentrated at Headspace I doubt that there's sufficient demand to make it worthwhile to completely revive the FES. >And (with a non-sequitor spin) where the heck is Crackers? Oh, I hope it's just because he's a busy puppy (which I'm sure he is, considering skills, talents, etc.) To be honest, I think it's the off-topic stuff that really keeps us going. I think if we limited ourselves to conversation about Dolby music, we'd be caught in a circle eventually, because Thomas hasn't had time (to our knowledge) to create new music to share with us in recent days. This is not a negative statement, BTW. I'd like to think that Thomas enjoys seeing our creative leanings/development and reading our sometimes far-ranging conversations, especially as they have happened as a result of him bringing us together. This is where I want to come to put my feet up and yak with the rest of the clan by the fire. Lord knows, I'm always intrigued by the fascinating things people out here can do. As a techno-loser, I'm awed by what some of our members can do with a computer. As someone who cannot read music (I can "feel" where notes are and sing quite well, but I cannot tell you what any of the notes are), I am just enraptured by what the musicians among us can do. (I really do turn into a wide-eyed kid when I hear anything created by my friends, because I recognize that their brains must be much more finely tuned than mine ever will be!) We have scientists, artists, and, generally, some awfully gifted - and nice - - humans. (And, whenever I see a photo of one of the Alloy'ed out on the 'Net, I am quite taken by the inordinate number of Really Attractive People we have in our midst -- I'm happy to be the resident Troll Under The Bridge!) Dolby brought us together, but he didn't limit us. I find most of our off-topic chats to be fairly witty/interesting/humorous/you name it. I may not be interested in/be able to really understand one conversation or another, but there's usually something good to dip your toes in. Well, that's my $0.02 anyway. Windbag signing off.
