They caught me with One Chord To Another and I've been a fan ever since. It helps to see them live, which I have several times, as they sound leaner and more garage-ier (?) then they do on record. As much as I like their records, I feel they have not been fully captured on record as they should be. Probably because their lyrics are now much more mature and pull me in. Plus, the great vocals are much clearer, and instrumentation is not as overwhelming. Here’s a proper link for the whole album, as your link just goes to one of their songs https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mFcEOp0x380X4J581HypRcY0gTnH9P_u8 - Mark > On Oct 24, 2022, at 2:37 AM, Steven Durben wrote: > > Hello everyone.  > > Stumbling into Sloan’s new release had me wistfully remembering the days of discussing with some here their reaction to Sloan’s latest  release.  Some serious anti-Sloan folks here too.  It was all fun.  Sloan discussion was a small sample of what  was so fun when this list was ablaze with conversation and off topic nonsense and/or silliness too (which I far too often went to far into).  Not dismissing  what it is today but simply recalling what it once was.  Anyway, I happen to think STEADY is a pretty darn good release. > > Why my favorite track is SIMPLY LEAVEING.  A somber, sad fantastic track.  I’ll put this up there with the best of what they have released. > > Here is one that jumps more in a power pop vein.  > > > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELl0hKCCEaA > > Anyway, hello to all of you.  Hope you are well in this uncertain times. > > And if you have thoughts on this album… I’m going to be reading them for sure. > > Best wishes, > > Steve D.
