Looking backatcha. LOVE the band - amazing vocals, clever songs, and Slamer was absolute air guitar heaven. I bought the "best of" and the 2-fers on CD and was happy with the sound, but I also still have my vinyl. I do remember some conversation at the time that there were needle drop CDs (and CD-Rs, believe it or not) being sold. Maybe I got lucky. "5.7.0.5." was a hit, but they deserved so much more - I can't believe they weren't far more popular than they were. Put 10CC, Sparks and Queen in a blender and there you go. Saw them live twice, and they absolutely kicked ass - musically and vocally TIGHT. (They were opening for Hall and Oates, who had G.E.Smith in the band at the time - talk about great guitar players!) Auditeers, if you never heard them, listen to the Amazon clips from the "anthology"...a good sampling of their versatility: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004UADU7G/ref=pd_mp3_als_qp_pa Better yet, hit YouTube: For the rockers: "Cigarettes". Get the air guitar out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylJl3U8MkLY For the pop people: I've Been Spun" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJXq09rEOco For the proggers: "Ambition" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwJ1ZSi9tWw Off to blast some City Boy, LOUD. Slamer was also in bands like Streets and Steelhouse Lane, but those never grabbed me like the uniqueness of City Boy. I just looked him up on All Music and apparently he had a band called Slamer that put out an album in 2006. I'll have to try and dig up that one - doesn't seem to be on Spotify (although a Japanese artist named Slamer is). > > -----Original Message----- > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Date: Fri, 6 Oct 2017 21:46:27 -0700 (GMT-07:00) > From: JJ Giddings > To: audities@smoe.org > Subject: Re: City Boy - Same (1976) und The Galileo 7 > Message-ID: <6839805.146181.1507351587432@wamui-aurora.atl.sa.earthlink.net> > > >> I just listen (again) to the first album by the english band City Boy.
