Surprised this hasn't popped up here, though I realize it's only available on eMusic right now. I like their first album fine, but THE LAST PLACE is a power pop masterpiece IMHO. In a year that's already had a several terrific power pop albums (Sloan, The Smithereens) and promises several more (The Red Button, FoW), this goes to the top of my list. It puts the lie the to the old saw that power pop can often put form over content, documenting the failed affair of lead singer Justin Kennedy with tunes that hook and lyrics that bite. Band rocks, too. I'd say the biggest problem is that track 2, Ode to Janice Melt, is so insanely catchy you may just keep repeating it and not get to the rest of the album. Get it now. Seriously.
