I subscribe to the UK eMusic store. We just got an email yesterday saying they were moving to the per track pricing. We, as yet, don't get the major label artists though it looks as though it's coming. I think this is a shame as I like the fact it's all indie label releases - I certainly discover a lot of good but more obscure bands because of this and I suspect this will be lost if they're being crowded out by more high profile temptations. From reading what they've sent me it doesn't look as though my plan will change however. Previously I paid just under £10 and could download 65 tracks- this is going to stay the same - I'll still pay the £10 and still get the same number of downloads so effectively I'll get £27.50 worth of credit for my £10. I wonder if this will change at some point in the future? The only downside I can see for me is that albums will cost the sum of all the tracks. So a 10 track album will be £4.20. However, if a band releases an album with 25 short tracks on it, it'll cost £10.50. There may be instances then when it's silly to download from eMusic as likely iTunes, Amazon or even the physical product will work out a lot cheaper.
