Some really good stuff amongst this conversation. 

Probably not recognised as a "Christian" band, but for my money, Big Star
had a lot of faith elements/lyrics in their music and are still constantly
ranked as one of the top Powerpop bands of all time. Actually, Alex Chilton
had a few Christian type songs. One of my faves is on his solo album, High
Priest. The song is Come By Here.  

A band called All Star United that came out of the U.S. released an album
called International Anthems For The Human Race in 1998. I think they did a
pretty good job on that one. Kind of alt/Brit pop sound. 

Bob Dylan's Slow Train Coming is definitely worth a look in. I think someone
already mentioned Larry Norman - the 2 essential ones IMHO are Only Visiting
This Planet (1972) and In Another Land (1976).

would be some that could recommend any good Christian music?

My experience with the genre has not been very promising, but I'm sure there
MUST be something worth listening there somewhere, right. right????
