I seem to recall an email he posted several years ago about his
dissatisfaction with the music industry, 

his role in it and a general lack of appreciation or support for his work -
or something to that effect.

I'm sure he's been wrestling with these demons for awhile.

 

How horribly sad he left a wife and kids behind - not to mention years of
potentially untapped music to share with us. His two solo albums are
classics - especially his first, and some of the best solo pop music crafted
in the last 10+ years.

 

What a bummer all the way around.
