I'm not sure this qualifies, but back during the Clinton administration,
they hosted Vaclav Havel (President of Czechoslovakia) to some big state
dinner.

Since there had been a longtime connection between Havel and Lou Reed,
the latter was invited to perform at some point in the evening.

The NPR reviewer reporting on this the next day said she ducked under
the table to look, and the only one tapping his foot - yes in time! - to
Lou's music was Al Gore.  Again, I'm not sure what that proves, but....
