Alan Heaton and I will be there the whole fest (and you can get our Burning Sky Records releases there!). ...Steve>>> -----Original Message----- From: audities-owner@smoe.org [mailto:audities-owner@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Christopher Kouzes Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 11:43 AM To: audities@smoe.org Subject: Charlotte Pop Fest get together Hey everyone- For those not attending this week's Pop Fest in Charlotte, sorry for the intrusion and even sorrier that you won't be able to make what looks like to be great weekend of music! So far it looks like the following people are coming in: Anna Borg Sherman Boim John Borack Donna Sue Scott Homewood The Dana Auditorium is at 1900 Selwyn Ave. I'm planning on getting a drink before the show. I think the closest place is The Selwyn Pub at 2801 Selwyn Ave. I'm planning on getting there on Thursday at about 4:30 for a quick beer. Anybody arriving early that wants to meet up with me, keep an eye out for me (I'm 6'2" and will shamefully be wearing a Cubs hat). Otherwise, let's plan on meeting up at the show. A few places to hit during your time in Charlotte: Manifest Records (on South Blvd). Outside of Amoeba, my favorite record store. Lunchbox Records (on 1419-A Central Ave.) Not nearly as good as Manifest, but cool small store all the same. Caters more to the punk crowd. The Penguin (1921 Commonwealth Ave). If there are 2 restaurants that Charlotte can claim as its own, The Penguin is one of them (the other is Price's- see following). Definition of everything a great dive restaurant should. http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/5051/penguin-drive-in. Just a few blocks from Lunchbox Records. Price's Chicken Coop. It's possible (I suppose) you've had fried chicken as good, but you'll never have better. A true Charlotte landmark. It's tucked away on 1614 Camden Rd (http://www.priceschickencoop.com/). FYI- it's take out only, but there should be some park benches around the corner. Mac's Speedshop. It's a trendy upscale version of a biker bar. But it's also home to my favorite BBQ. The closest one to Queens College is on South Blvd (http://www.macspeedshop.com/) Anybody else coming not listed above, please let me know! Looking forward to finally being able to put some faces to names I've seen for years...
