The Flaming Lips- "The Soft Bulletin"   1999
May not fit the power pop definition, but it is most definitely a pop album. In my humble opinion it is a masterpiece .It turned my head around as to the possibility of what a modern pop album could sound like. The Flaming Lips turned a corner with this release, and they haven't looked back since. I can still remember the thrill I got when "Race for the Prize" started playing. And I will never forget it.
